I had a neighbor who gave me seven goslings which all turned out to be Emmden geese. No one ever mentioned that geese are great but probably the filthiest bird to have on ones farm. Sure they love to follow you around but Wow can they poop a lot! They are all resting now comfortably i the freezer. Great video guys.

I'm curious to ask you more about geese. Its also very hard to get information on geese as there's less people that do them. And usually they are people that aren't online a lot.

Most of the time when they classify goose breeds they tell you calmness, eggs per year, and carcasse weight.

But one thing they don't really talk about much is the average age at which they can start mating and laying eggs? Is this different for most breeds? And what do you think about this. To compare, this age at which they start breeding, and the number of times they breed per year is a big deal with sheep and some other livestock and makes a difference in what kind of stock people get. So thinking of this with sheep by comparison brought this up.

It's goose breeds, because when a noun is used as an adjective, it's used in singular, e.g. we don't say "horses breeds" but "horse breeds".

So I wanted to ask you a question related to this topic that's not often asked.

I'm in a dryer climate, southwestern US. This means the land has much less water. During certain parts of the year it can be difficult for the grasses, to not look dried out and yellow. Much of the states west of the Mississippi river tributary areas are like this in summer and fall.

I'm wondering if any particular geese breed is more suited to this type of environment, or will do better than the others for this kind of land?

As an example, sheep have some varieties more suited to dry farming states. And there's some cows that do better this way also. I would think there'd have to be some other species that may have some more adaptable.

Hope you have some advise on this.

Do Sebastopol geese always have curly feathers? There are 2 white geese at my apartment complex that are both supposed to be Sebastopol, but one is all white w/o curly feathers. He looks like the first breed (Embden) you mention in your video.

Minnesota loves permaculture too, any recommendations for arctic weather? I also don’t keep animals I have to defend myself with.
