I have 5 Toulouse geese with my 30+ chickens. I’ve had no snakes or hawks. Even the owls are leary. Love them

I know this video says Geese are more of a watch dog, but I have seen gaurd geese stomp a fox to the grave.

I'm still traumatized by the goose attacks at a local park back in the day lol. They are definitely aggressive.

We're raising a flock of 31 fowl in total. 3 goslings, 4 ducklings, 3 baby turkeys and the rest are chicks. We just moved them to their newly-built coop today. Gonna leave them there to get used to it for a couple of days, then release them during the day to their run. Theyve got access to food and water, but we have to put up more roosting bars. Im gonna put a small pool for the ducks on one side of the run, about 400sqft of space in the run. Its fenced in but not predator-proof right now. We're gonna put up wire fencing inside our metal horse fencing to make the area safe probably tomorrow. Eventually, we will release them to free-range during the day. Theyre all still young though and a few of the chicks have had their backs pecked since their brooder pen got too small. What should i watch out for as they get accustomed to their coop?

This might be a silly question, if you are to only have 1 goose for protection, would a male or a female goose be the better choice?

Any idea if you have a mixed flock of ducks and chickens if they will protect both? Or tend to protect one species more than another?

I have two female Toulouse geese and they just started laying they have their own box in the coop. One in particular has been pecking on my chickens and pulling out feathers. Even pecking the head of the other goose. Any solutions ideas? Should I sell the other one?

Thank you for you info...but you didn't mention if running chickens with geese means...hens with geese for protection as they take the place of a rooster....or rooster/hen flocks with geese have a symbiotic relationship and warn roosters or do they just fight each other as each thinks they are protecting the hens???

My wife is set on getting two geese for our 17 chickens the chickens roam the neighborhood the neighbors don’t mind the pic collecting I’m wondering if the noise from the geese is going to antagonize the neighbors to the point where the chickens won’t be welcome anymore!
And I’ve heard that goose poop is 20 times chicken poop!

My daughter’s gander systematically killed her hens one by one as they began to molt. She thinks he interpreted it as illness. They are now permanently separated.

I can't get my chickens to stop pecking and bullying my geese. The geese are too tame. Idk what I did wrong with them. They are still young but I am scared that they are defective as far as being too nice or willing to get bullied or they are a bit slow. Idk. It just sits there as little chickens peck it. And it doesn't do anything but go "Murr" as the bloody it up. Idk what to do.

What about a swan? Is it a good chicken protector?
