About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday we are able to transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

I LOVE
Things I learned from having geese:
--Goslings love to chew..on everything
--They don't care about rain, they'll stand in it all day long
--If a gander is getting aggressive, take his neck and push it to the ground (make him submissive to you)
--They are great at alerting you when someone/something is on your property
--Watch out when they try to wack you with the bony part of their wings
--They are so warm and soft and great to hug
--Make sure they always have access to fresh water to drink

The way you eloquently plan and edit your shots over the classical music in the background does not go unnoticed. How many people agree?

"I hope my videos inspire people"
Well, it certainly did me. We are starting our first Chicken flock, and will be trying to hatch a guard geese or two(depending on how it goes with our flock).

Our family started watching your channel about 2 years ago when we lived in town and dreamed of acreage. We were able to buy a little bit of neglected farm land last year, got some chickens, and have been working on converting the old corn/soy field to pasture. (right now its just overgrown horsetail) Our plan is to get geese next year if all goes well and the pasture is established. Your channel is my children's favorite. Thank you for the inspiration, humor, story telling, entertainment, and a few life lessons thrown in for good measure.

My male goose always stops chicken fights. He's like the bouncer of the pasture.

About 20 years ago my wife and I bought a piece of land and built a home on it. We have planted many small berry plants and a few fruit and nut trees. Our kids wanted to 'really' farm and raise animals. Both my wife and I were working full time and told them no. The youngest daughter started helping a neighbor with animals (chickens, beef cattle and hogs) and it didn't take long for her to realize how much work it is to properly care for animals. She'd been helping for about six months when we had a significant storm, she looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked when she was going over to help. Previously I had stated on your channel that being called a farmer is for me a compliment and to which I typically respond "Thanks, but I don't work that hard." Please keep up the great videos!

I’m working on a home brew D&D world where an inter dimensional sentient goose is responsible for the existence of the multiverse. Partially inspired by this channel, and partially inspired by the reputation of geese in general

We have had our Toulouse guard goose for almost a year. She is AWSOME!! We raised her with two ducks and five chicks. She now guards our flock of two ducks and 23 chickens. She is so fun to have and now we can’t imagine not having a goose!

"Geese are primarily herbivores."

Oh yes...I live in the tropics. Here they are such good grazers that the grasses are cropped neatly thin, better than goats. Oh yeah and every frogs, mice, insects and small snakes also have gone extinct at our orchard. That cobra-like head is not for show.

You need to put that on T-shirts.

We have a male and female. The female (Lydia) so loud. Our male (Beetle Goose) hates pink! He will attack anything pink if you wear it out to feed. They are very entertaining to watch and beautiful while swimming. They look like swans.

I just enjoy you and your shy wife so much. I rescued a baby duck that came right to me an would have been hawk food if I had not taken her at that moment. So that is how I found you. Then I shared you on Ducks 101 on FB. But you are so kind and I just pray the Lord blesses you and keeps you and makes His to face to shine upon you, your wife and your farm.

You are a major reason that we are going to begin raising Toulouse geese once we buy our property. 😊 We absolutely love goose meat, and living around so many geese in Germany and France, we fell in love with geese. They’re sort of like the Larry David of poultry.
