In this vlog I go through how to take a noise spectrum with RF network analyzer Agilent 4395A. Turns out it's not that trivial the first time I did this!

Nutsinee: there is a perfect explanation on why the HP 4395A is off by 2.5 dB. The 4395A using a True RMS detection method rather than a conventional logarithmic amplifier and envelope detector--as most other analyzers do (even many other HP Spectrum Analyzers). Therefore, when you are in NOISE mode on the 4395A, the displayed value is a TRUE measure of noise level (in V, A or W per root Hz). This is true in the HP 3588/89A, 4395A and 4396B. The 3585A/B and 4195A use log amps and envelope detectors so they will read 2.5 dB low. For more information, see (somewhat obscure) Agilent Product Note PN 4395/96-1, "How to Measure Noise Accurately Using the
Agilent Combination Analyzers." The 4395A is a great tool and gets it right!

Hi, after running the analyser I see you save data on disk. Will you be able to send me the link for the disk please. Instead of the disk I am trying to save data on laptop. So, I have connected analyser to the LabView using Laptop. But I am unable to save the data on my laptop. There is only option to save data on disk or memory. From your experience could you give any suggestions please. I will really appreciate your respons.
