Rocketman (2019) - 'Crocodile Rock' scene

Amongst other things, it is the occasional fantasy moments that elevate this Elton John biopic above the many similar ones we have seen recently. Some of his songs have brief but memorable riffs and interludes, and they are expanded to full effect to create magical scenes like this one.

I know a lot of people hate this scene because of the floating & the unrealistic-ness it has, but it’s there to represent him first connecting with the crowds in America & that’s honestly beautiful. Sure it’s unrealistic, but it’s art. Plain & simple.

My mom saw Elton live in the mid 70’s - saw his outrageous leg kick out and fabulous stage presence and just everything at his iconic prime- I’m a big fan of Taron (and Elton of course!) and I invited her to see the movie with me - she couldn’t stop smiling and pointing out what she saw in her concert experience. It was such a bonding experience and this movie actually made me closer to my mom - who has incredible taste in artists! :)
