As a dyslexic parent, I find it super hard to find research or articles specifically geared to parents who’s are dyslexic. I can only find articles geared towards parents of dyslexic kids. Is there just not research being done in this area? How can I teach my kid phonetics when I struggle with it myself? Why aren’t there articles and guides geared towards parents that are dyslexic themselves?!? Clearly, there is a strong likelihood my kid might be dyslexic but if I’m dyslexic myself, will it be harder for me to know? Is my child more likely to have other learning disabilities because they have a dyslexic parent? Finding out this information is basically impossible since everything is written by non-dyslexics and is geared towards other non-dyslexics. It’s so frustrating.
