Okinawa, Japan. The Oldest People In The World

Japan. For hundreds of years this mysterious state had been cut off from the outer world. The iron curtain was lifted only in the late 19th century, and in the 20th century the country became the homeland of economic miracle. Modern Japan demonstrates miracles of another kind. Its citizens live longer than anyone else on the planet, with the average lifespan of 82 years. The most significant contribution to this achievement is made by the tropical island of Okinawa. The southern-most Japanese island holds the record on the number of centenarians. Sunny Okinawa isn't a typical Japanese region. 450 years ago this territory was an independent state, Kingdom of Ryukyu, with its own laws, customs and language. The island became a part of Japan only in 1872. Okinawa of today is one of the smallest prefectures of the Land of the Rising Sun and the only place in Japan where it never snows.

As life expectancy continues to soar, more and more of us are living to well over the age of 100. We ask some of the oldest people in the world the question everyone wants answered: what is the secret to long life?

Yes, I agree, the background music for those of us who are a bit hard of hearing. I am well into my 87th year. I am not on any medication and have full mobility.

I think, that these old people who're active, healthy, strong and still doing their daily chores are NOT being so ONLY by consuming healthy foods but all of these together: genetic, organic food, great climate, beaches, exercise, especially swimming and walking on the sandy beaches, plus the support of each other!
May God bless these lovely old people 🙏❤

The music in this documentary is loud enough to shorten my life!! Practice what you are preaching.

the music at 12:50 makes it quite difficult to hear the speaker

I Love This Centenarian research. I think that the should be captions for the doctor. So that we can know exactly what he's saying. His accent is strong.

I wish that the sound quality of this important film was better. The music is often too loud and there seem to be other distracting background noises?

I doubt these older people would put up with the music and background noise in this video!

Good advice. I have seen a wide range of extremes, many people, many countries, a wide range of exercise, thinking, and making a difference. Everyone in my generation who smoked died decades ago. I am 90 years old.

I think the 93 year old man
looks much younger, but the others look their age, but they don’t act or feel it. It’s better to continue having fun and enjoying light sports.

Great video documentary. Loved it! I've been to Japan a few times including Okinawa. I've been very impressed with Japan and the culture since the early 1980's.

I reckon my mum stayed well because they didn't always have enough to eat and she stayed cool.

Thank you for this great documentary. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I need to mention that the background music was too loud and very distracting. Also, the voice could be toned down a little; it sounded overly dramatic. So sorry to make these points, but it's our feedback.
