Porsche will not join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 as it is believed to have ended its formal evaluation of a programme despite the championship still being of interest.
The stars aligned for a while, then it seemed completely incompatible.
And after more than two years of speculation, meetings, rule changes to make F1 more appealing, private and public declarations of interest – Porsche’s F1 2026 prospects are all but dead.

So basically, they wanted a controlling stake in a championship winning team while adding nothing to said team. In other words, they were never serious about joining the grid.

The fact Porsche wanted Red Bull to hand over half of the entire F1 operation to a company that also owns Audi/Sauber as a direct competitor on the grid is utterly mind-blowing. Who at Porsche thought anyone would *ever* agree to that!?

The last time Porsche failed this hard, they were building the VK 45.01 (P).

For the last 25 years or so, whenever there are rumors about Porsche and F1, I always said: "I believe it, when it actually happens!" And every single time I've been proven right. In don't want to be right, I just am...

I think these teams are wary about major manufacturers bailing out on F1 so suddenly in years past, so not surprised teams like Red Bull and Mclaren would not relent to giving Porsche a majority stake.

Hopefully this will make F1 and the grid more willing to accommodate andretti Cadillac

I still think Porsche was mostly acting like it was interested as a part of a larger VW group plan to extract maximum concessions from the FIA for Audi's bid. Since they could dangle the promise of two new manufacturers instead of just one. It should have been obvious that the offer they gave RB was something they would never agree too.

Most of the new rules set in 26 was because of the lure of manufacturers, such as Porsche. Some could claim, because of Porsche's public interest, and later Audi. Only to see Porsche with egg on their faces because they wanted to come in, and throw cash, while telling everyone how to win. Maybe that would have worked in the past, and maybe in the future it will again, but for now the reason for the rules changes is looking silly, and probably won't be back

I'm wondering why Porsche didn't try to buy Alpha Tauri..

Controversial opinion here, but I’m glad Porsche won’t be joining the grid. The arrogance they’ve displayed throughout this process is not what F1 needs. They thought they could just throw some money at Red Bull, rock up on the grid and start raking in the glory with race wins and championships without doing the hard graft. Why? Because they’re Porsche. No thanks, they can stick to their other motorsport programs.

Thank God F1 teams value and respect others aspects too and may it continue to be so.

I could only imagine such a deal with AlphaTauri, but not with Red Bull.

Now that Porsche are confirmed not joining could F1 grant Andretti their entry already. They can't seriously be waiting for Honda to come back for the nth time before letting Andretti be the 11th team??

I can't wait to see how they come up with reasons to deny Andretti now that the preferred entry they were courting for years shrugged and gave up.

I think Scotts take here is spot on. Porsche misjudged their relative value and the relative value of an F1 team.
Its Hubris, and F1 can well do without this attitude.

Porsche was never going to enter F1 they wanted the free advertising, they do it every few years.

New teams or bust, not interested in any take overs. So I won't miss Porsche in the least, they never seemed like they were seriously interested anyway.

I always found it strange that two companies under the same banner(owners) were really willing to spend that amount of money to be in F1. Didnt think it would happen

Writing was kind of on the wall after the Red Bull talks fell apart

At this point, I'm probably going to be dead by the time Porsche ever enters F1.
