Meet the updated Porsche 911!

Porsche has unveiled an updated version of its class-leading sports car, but this is no ordinary facelift. For the first time ever, the 911 has gone hybrid!

So apart from the changes under the skin, let’s see what else has been updated. Thankfully, not too much! Around the front, you’ll find a new set of LED matrix headlights, as well as an updated front bumper. Within it, you’ll find 5 vertical fins on each side, and these can open and close depending on whether the radiator needs cooling. There are new alloy wheel designs to choose from, and around the rear, you’ll find a tweaked light bar, as well as new vents behind the windscreen and a new rear bumper.

Step inside and there’s one notable change - the analogue rev counter has gone, with a fully digital driver display fitted instead. It looks pretty smart and comes with lots of different options, but it’s just not the same as a traditional rev counter! Otherwise, the interior is every bit as smart as you’d expect from a 911, with soft-touch materials throughout and a large infotainment screen on the dash.

When it comes to performance, only the new GTS comes as a hybrid. It’s now powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six with a single turbo, and this combines with the electric motor to produce 541hp and 610Nm of torque - that’s 61hp more than the previous GTS! Porsche claims it will be able to hit 60mph in just 3 seconds, and it also comes with a top speed of 194mph.

The new 911 range starts from £99,800. But if you’re looking to get your hands on the GTS, it will set you back at least £132,600! The question is, if you could, would you pay it? Or would you pick up a second-hand fully petrol-powered 911 instead? Let us know in the comments!

They even got the Carwow female cowntdown voice for the drag race on the official Porsche channel. Insane how far they've gotten

Gotta say— hella smart on Porsche to use e-Turbos for better delivery of power whilst also “having good emission”. 540hp in a GTS is no joke 🥵

Gaining only 50kg for a hybrid is impressive. Congrats Porsche

If Porsche says it’ll do 3sec flat from 0 to 62mph, i bet it will do 2.8 or sum. That’s actually insane for a GTS

getting rid of the twist start button is a big fat mistake

I can’t imagine what the new Turbo S is going to be? It will be a *MONSTER!*

These new 911’s are adding an awful lot more complexity, and it will be interesting to see how all the components age over time.

I really don’t like those front and rear vents. Eliminating the analog tach is a big mistake.

If the carrera GTS got a 61 hp bump, the turbo S is going to be a absolute monster.

Fantastic, but I wish they kept the analog gauge, it looked so good

F1: We kick out the MGU-H cause the technology isn’t relevant for Road Cars.
Porsche: lets build a MGU-H into the new 992.2.

992.1 prices 📈

-Rear taillight makes the car look like a full on EV. They did not need to add another long lightbar. That weird section where the “Porsche” logo looks awkward. The 992.1 rear end looks much better.
-a push to start button. Really?!?!
-fully digital analog?!?! They really listened to consumers 🧐
-sure, the hybridization makes it faster but I’m going to bet the ride will be more soulless. Faster is not always better. I’d much rather drive a 993 over a Tesla S Plaid any day.
-Maintenance will most certainly be a nightmare in the long run with all of these complexities.
-those front fins are a no go.
-MSRP “slightly raised”?!?! It just went up over $12k…. Almost 10% increase.

Front looks ridiculous with those fins, prices are also crazy but performance will probably be crazy as well

Congrats for being in the Porsche 911 official presentation, Team Carwow !

This one is not better, losing the actual tachometer for Honda Civic screen type, the turn key for a push-button, the front bumper with ugly fins, and the exhaust pipes that are too close; how is all of that better?

Porsche 911 is like the iPad of cars. The upgrades are so incremental the average user won’t notice the difference
