Who needs more than 100 horsepower for a city car? You sound like a teenager who wants to prove he's got the biggest.
It's incredible to see that in 2024, a guy over 40 can't see the potential of a car if it doesn't have 200 or 300 horsepower.

Viking can say what he wants, Hyundai, Stelantis and Renault are the only ones who are starting to make what people really want.
Small, cheap cars that will sell like hotcakes in Europe.

Funky Cat Ora is just a design Gimmick. This Car is actual practical. Power is enough for most people, except youtubers.

Those power ratings are comparable to most European ICE hatchbacks of a similar size, and that's what's needed in the marketplace, No reason to see this type of car with 150+bhp.

Should be a sucess, in UK, if pricing is competative.. Hyundai have a good reputation and dealer network, here.

I think Viking has misread the family car market. He wants a big SUV so he can put his and his sons' bikes in the back, and have top-end acceleration. I believe that most families want a city runabout (ideally EV) that has ENOUGH power and range, not top-end. This Inster EV is one of the first cars that has enough, and is also cheap enough to attract mass-market purchasers. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm also interested in what other people think, as that will dictate the car companies' future EV plans.

Inster could corner the market as one of the first under 25000 euro cars in Europe, now that the Chinese competitors have been hit with tariffs. Many people are waiting to buy an affordable electric car. The first brand to get there gets the sales and those people are off the market for years. NMC is a bit old-school, but a livable solution considering the low mileage city environment and big enough battery. Even if the battery only lasts 1000 cycles, it's still enough for most customers.

Hi. Thanks for your informative videos. I am driving a Hyundai i-10 in the city in Switzerland. 0 to 100 km(/h in 14 seconds. That never bodhered me. But this car is
even narrower than the i-10 by 5 cm. I dont see the reason for that. All the best to You from Switzerland. I am looking forward to buy the new Inster. I love the practical interior.

1:30 - That's not particularly underpowered; it can travel at up to 93 mph. It's intended to have adequate power for the speed limits in many countries, and to be an affordable small car.

The biggest problem I can see with those specifications is that it can only recharge on AC at 11 kW. That's abysmally low today, when AC recharging at up to at least 43 kW AC 3-phase is available. It should be rechargeable at 22 kW AC as a minimum. Tesla fall into the same pit with their low AC recharging speeds. Even our old Zoe with a maximum of only 50 kW DC recharging can recharge on 3-phase AC at 22 kW. The DC recharging speed of the Inster is fine, however. And the retail price is too high for what is being sold.

My 2007 Xtrail does 0 - 100 in 11.8. Does me fine and doesn't feel dangerous.

A used one of these in a couple years will make someone very happy as their first car. We absolutely need affordable EVs for oil independence. I think this might have the potential of what the Kia Soul has done for Kia, but for Hyundai's EV division. Its got personality, ok specs, great practicality, affordable, and not Chinese. You have to understand that most everyday car buyers (non-enthusiasts) don't have the luxury of choice. They primarily go on price, and if its 'good enough' they will buy it.

A damn good city/sub urban car, from a known brand with good reliability history and long term parts supply plus a well proven warranty plan.
Personally this is very high on my list as a quality up grade to the dacia spring.
You would struggle to find a ICE automatic with similar spec for the pricing they are estimating ( £22k UK)

Ideal for someone who primarilly drives in built up areas but needs the range to do the occasional long journey as opposed to the Dacia Spring or Honda E which are or were limited to city driving.

I like this - the closest thing to a wagon in EV with surprising legroom in the back too.

As a French citizen I think this vehicle will sell very well for families of 4 adults who commute 100 kms max per day.
Yes it's not pure EV but otoh, the cost for the chassis has been amortized in ICE version & this is how they can sell it cheap, like the Citroën Ec3.
Urbanites who want cheap faithful mules for A to B will buy it.

Performance is adequate, not blistering. Faster than the new Suzuki Swift, slightly bigger boot, similar size. Might be a second car for a family, but for a young couple or an older couple with an “empty-nest”, I think it would do well as a main car here in the UK.

My wife drives a KIA Picanto ICE car, 1.2L @62kw max output. I think 0-100 in 11 seconds would be a significant upgrade and she only gets 330km per tank. I think we need to go back to basics here. It's a city car. I don't often get to 100 in her car and when I do, it's not normally from a stand still on to a freeway.

Looks very cute! I like it. Would be excellent here (Netherland) in the city and the occasional 100-200km trip.
This car would be a direct competitor for the Citroën Ë-C3, which has an advantage because it's European made.

The car is one I might buy. Few close contenders and I am happy with the Hyundai/Kia brands.
