I feel like the fact that King George, or Bertie, had such a fear of public speaking endeared him more to the people, because it shows he is just as human as the rest of us.

I met her very briefly once. It was in 1977 when I was on a trip with my school. I was then 15 years old and could only understand a few words of English (I'm French). We were on the steps going up to St. Paul's Cathedral when someone came out making big gestures and closing the door to the public. There were about twenty of us on the steps when two huge cars stopped in front of the cathedral. An old lady got out of one car and 2 other people got out of the other car. The old lady was in front and went towards the front door. As I was almost in her way, she came to shake my hand with an incredible smile and say 2 or 3 words to me. Then she entered the cathedral. I knew from my teacher that she was the Queen Mother and that's when my legs started shaking :D She was just adorable.

It’s weird to think she was born when almost absolutely everyone in the world was born in the 1800s, and she died when there were about 5 of them left.

George VI was a hero for stepping up to be King even though he felt unprepared for the job and forced into it by his brother.

The Queen Mother seemed like she loved & supported her husband so, so much. He was so lucky to have her as his partner! What comfort she must've brought him!

The narrator at the background is spectacular...I can listen to her whole year round...perfect intonation...command of language....just perfect 😍

I really enjoy hearing stories from those Queens of the past. Victoria, Mary, and Queen Mother. They were alive not that long ago, and yet those times also sound so distant in the mist of time.

King George made me smile when he was having fun with a group of people and they did hand gestures and he had a huge smile and he kept looking at his wife. He really adored her and even though he always looked stoic, his wife always brought that smile on his face. This is a lovely side of the royalty.

Through all of the Queen Mother qualities, I think her devotion to her husband as his rock is what make her stand out from most royal marriages. That was a couple who had genuine love and happiness between each other, sad that through her extremely long life she couldn't spend more of it with her Bertie.

Our family revered George VI and Queen Elizabeth for setting an example of calmness and comfort to the population devastated by the bombings during WWII. The right man ascended the throne.

(Actually one of my Uncles before WW2 was a photographer of the Royalty and he left me some photos in his Will and i sent those Photos to the Queen Mum on her Birthday she was very thankful for them).

My Grandmother was the same age as the Queen mother and looked very similar to her. She always dressed like the Queen Mother as well.

I vaguely remember when she died but had no idea who she really was. It wasnt until i watched the Kings Speech that i started to realise that without her Queen Elizabeth may not have been my queen today. That she was the strength behind the crown.

I love the 1920s fashion and the art deco vibe . I think her wedding dress was sublimely magnificent and so modern fot that period of time .

I love her private home, Castle of Mey in Caithness. It's full of family stuff, not grand and a real feeling of 'her home'. Her gardens are informal, and full of colour. Her love of farming where her Angus cattle are still bred.

"who became the first royal to divorce." The Church of England is based on a King trying to get divorced. Henry 8 was divorced twice. That is what is so bizarre about the Royal Family. The current family exist only because of a divorce.
