I read a little more about it on gamefaqs and it was explained to me that when we see nier and the younger version of his daughter we are seeing a flash back of a earlier time. In this ending when nier and his older teenage daughter look up at the sky while in the castle they are both remembering a earlier time 5 years ago when they had done the same thing at home.

@youdamanyoudaman If I recall, when you beat the game the first time, after the Credits you get to save a slot so you can replay the game, when you replay you'll be given a Text(The Text-RPG-style) story of Kaine's past and such before reaching the Half-point of the game and such.

Annnnd that's just for Ending A, I have yet to play further from there.

if you shoose to do a second playthrough, you'll see the king being the last one alive with the boar right about to charge into him... the king succesfully delivers a killing blow to the shade-boar's head and kills it...
the kinf then dies due to his wounds..

Heres what you need to understand, Shades are human souls of the people that lived thousands of years ago, while the current humans are copys from those humans and each shade has a human currently living when a shade goes berserk, the human suffers from that disease in the game and here is the kicker, the shadowlord being Niers soul is the one that keeps most shades from going crazy, but when Nier killed the shadowlord he effectively doomed humanity to oblivion

If you continue the game, you will find out that the King of Facade died and that the girl huged the evil dude because it was her father. It's complicated to understand, because the Shades are leftovers of humans and these Shades have a corresponding shell, which looks exactly the same as they were before turning into Shades. That means that Yonah was both Nier's daughter and there was another Yonah who was Shadowlord's daughter. Nier's daughter was the shell for Shadowlord's daughter.

@ParietinaeUmbra I think ending B is far more heartbreaking. The Shadowlord is in fact the 'real' Nier and the fact that he lost his daughter so that a 'fake' version could survive is just utterly depressing. He waited a thousand years to be with his daughter. Then you realise that every single shade you killed was just an innocent person trying to defend themselves. The only reason they attacked the village was for revenge. All the keystone bosses were also just victims with tragic backstories.

I thought this ending was heartbreaking. Nier finally got his daughter back but lost all friends he gained along the way to do so (Nier, Weiss, Kainé and Emil made such a badass team!!).

And what's with the random flashback at the end with them lying in the grass?
