They all work well. The more you use them, the better you get. My preference is the stihl 2 n 1 file.

3 strokes with a hand file and it’s nice and sharp

Bench-top-grinder! 👍🏻 Harbor Freight $34 . Gets my chains / super sharp! Sharp as a new chain! Takes me about 20 mins to sharpen. Each chain

I like the Stihl 2 in 1 easy file, is it now called 4 in 1, what other 2 jobs does it do.

I’ve always sharpened mine by hand. When I was on the saws full time never used a guide but now I use a roller guide, it keeps me right. Fancy one of the Stihl file guide things though. If I were sharpening a lot of chains, bench grinder

Either a bare file or the Stihl easy file 😁

I have all of those, I can make a chain sharp with any of them but I prefer the bench mounted grinder.
I bought an extra chain so I take two chains with me to the woods and sharpen them at home.

12v rotary is shit. File for everyday maintenance and on-field sharpening... Bench Grinder is good for when you hit something or want to change a setting in the chain

Project Farm answered this question. It’s the Stihl multi file every time !!!

I prefer to handfile
And go to the bench grinder when i want to correct something or if I'm taking the chain off

Do what the pros do of course. Handfile unless bad damage then grind

Buy a new chain. Time saved. Money saved.

I learned on the file; haven't tried a grinder yet. As my vision gets worse, maybe I will.

The best way is to let whoever made the saw blunt in the first place sharpen it rather than them put it down and pick a different saw up!
