The Mystery of Floating Trees Explained

Take a look at this photo taken in 1941. It’s no Photoshop trickery - it was a brilliant camouflage technique. During World War II, the Finnish Army had to get creative to deceive their powerful Soviet enemies. They hung entire trees from poles and cables to hide their roads and block the view from Russian observation towers. If we zoom in on the photo you can barely make out some of the cables. They camouflaged literally everything. They even disguised entire ships as floating islands. Finland's role in the war was complicated - they fought against the Soviets, then later joined forces with Nazi Germany. Fast forward to today, and they've become one of NATO's newest members in response to the war in Ukraine. The Finns may not have had the most advanced technology or the biggest army, but they definitely did not lack in creative problem-solving skills. #history #worldwar2 #opticalillusion

They actually whooped the Soviet’s butts in “The Winter War.”

Finnish people are truly very intelligent. I started to study Finnish as a 12-years-old baby but I'm still learning everyday about them and their history. Absolutely amazing people

The finnish were not to be fucked with, and were very good at camouflage during WWII. Look up White Death if you've never geard of him. He single handedly killed between 500 to 700 enemies (Russians) himself. He ended up shot it the face with an explosive bullet and survived.

So the fins were fighting with the Germans against the Russians in WW2. That's kinda funny.

If the islands start speaking finnish, if you support the soviets… let’s say you shouldn’t.
