I did not expect my favourite and obscure fruit to be seen here.

Widely loved and slightly toxic... Sounds like most things in the world.

Soursop is a common fruit that's usually sold as fresh juice in Indonesia. Never heard of any side effect from drinking the juice tho.

I think there es a lot of information missing here, I'm from Mexico and here the Guanábana Is a very common fruit that is eaten across the country by a lot off people. I eat the fruit constantly and also in it's juice, smoothie and ice cream forms.

I've never heard Frome someone having Parkinson like symptoms because of this fruit.

How much do you need to eat to present this symptoms?
Is the toxin on the skin, seeds, or the white part?
Am I resistant to this toxin or do I just need to eat an absurd amount a day to get those symptoms? Because remember that everything can be poisoning at the correct dose.

I had a Guanabana tree on my backyard growing up in the Dominican Republic! My mom suffered from hand tremors and now has stiff legs... We now live in the US and she has not been able to be seen by a doctor to find out why but very interesting connection between this fruit and these symptoms! Thanks for sharing SciShow!

Did they recover if they stopped eating this stuff? ...or was the damage permanent?

I have never heard Guadeloupe pronounced that way.
How many people here are actually from the Caribbean?

I love Soursop. We make juice out of it a lot

I feel like two key things are missing:
* Amount consumed to get the parkinson's symptoms or 'damage'?
* Whether those effects are reversible.
I don't get a chance to eat guanábana often, but when I finally/hopefully get that chance again, I want to know how much it'll be possible to eat before regretting it :)

"Could treat [x]...even though it causes [x] symptoms." Oh boy, here come the homeopathy nuts.

The real question here is how much soursop can you eat before it starts causing damage??? I only eat it about once a year because it's a pain to seed the fruit and a bit expensive, but it's very tasty.

Here in Brazil we eat the fruit, make juice, ice cream, eat with açaí, and a lot of desserts... never heard it could cause parkinson's

We call this guayabano in the Philippines 🇵🇭 and we love to blend this with milk, sugar, and crushed ice. It’s actually a very refreshing summer drink.

What an absurd fruit. "You're gonna eat me? Fine, I'll literally rot your brain" incredible
