Just seen this in the cinema, brilliant fucking movie and one of the best sci-fi movies I've seen in years.

In my opinion this was better then Gravity and Interstellar.

I loved the movie but I think...

SPOILER

had it ended 5 minutes earlier with Caleb banging on the door cutting to black, it would have been more powerfull.

I thought I was watching Natalie Portman the entire time..

Also..

Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Alicia Vikander are identical triplets separated at birth as far as I'm concerned..

Just saw it.  Phenomenal story telling.  Well written, even better acted.  Great stuff :)

Anyone else read the title as 'Ex Machinima'

I think the final scene was totally necessary :S

"Making it easy for the audience to forget that this is a human playing a machine"
Well, why would it be difficult to act like a human?

Great review! One of my favorite films ever. One downside, however, I haven't been able to watch many films since. This one keeps praying on my mind and eclipsing everything.

Easily the best movie of January so far. Possibly the best sci-fi film I have seen. The final scene certainly is necessary.

Just saw it this morning as it came out in the UK today. It lived up to the hype, it was fascinating and expertly made and acted (Ava especially is just stunning). My only criticism is, like with Foxcatcher, the setting is so hostile and uncomfortable (deliberately so for the sake of the story) and the conclusion so radically changing the viewing experience of everything prior in the journey that it's not very re-watchable unless you want to analyse it.

So this is basically a remake of that Black Mirror episode?

Not criticism, just kind of funny that the same guy is also in this.

I like how IGN puts the music title in the description...

I mean they don't have to but, you think you'd want to give someone some credit for something?

Funny how thats the guy from that black mirror episode and the whole film seems to be so much like it

Hello everybody! It is indeed a great movie and great camera techniques! Btw does anybody know the name of the song and the composer at the end credits of the movie?

I don`t get why people are mad about the ending. The final scene wasn`t unnecessary! In fact it was thought provoking, scary to think about and it was the perfect end to the movie. It showed how an android can blend in with humans and we can`t even notice them because they learned how to simulate human expression and body language and they can manipulate and use people for different purposes with their superior intelligence. Caleb being locked in the house and left for dead is tragic but the thought of androids living among us is more scary. Ava manipulated Caleb to tun against Nathan and help her escape. She can simulate human expression and body language to manipulate humans to do her bidding. She didn`t loved Caleb, she only used him to get out of there. Ava doesn`t give 2 shits about Caleb when she steps out the house. Instead she locks him in and leaves him for dead. But still she is not the villain, Nathan is. He treated Ava like shit and presented her the only way out. Manipulate Caleb with her sexuality to get out and she did. Androids can`t love, they can only simulate it and that`s why she left him locked in the house because she was indifferent towards Caleb. She only saw a way out in him and she used him. Androids could be among us right under our nose and we have no idea. The movie makes you question your existence. Are you human or are you an android that is programmed to think that it`s human? Really thought provoking movie and imo it had a perfect and scary ending.
