The best and most professional lecture in photography I've ever watched here in YouTube.

Little known fact regarding longer lenses creating a thinner depth of field: using a shorter focal length lens of the same aperture, but moving closer so that your subject is the same size in the frame, the depth of field is the same!

Simon, not only do you have vast knowledge on photography, but perhaps most importantly, you have a wonderful, lovely way of presenting and explaining things! Thank you so much!

This is so incredibly helpful and really sets you apart from a lot the other photography “educators” on YouTube, in that your content is, imo, much more useful and educational. Thank you so much!

After asking people for year's( and being told it was just LUCK), this was the fist time someone told me how EXACTLY to shoot a sunstar. THANK-YOU very much for that. I'm a happy camper.🤩

Come on, guys. Hit the button. It's not often you find a video explaining something so clearly and it not be overly wordy. Precise and to the point, with clear examples. I appreciate this guy.

I’m trying to cut back on YouTube’ers who I follow, I get so many reminders that I struggle for time to watch stuff.
BUT, I have to subscribe to your channel, the subject’s you cover are so good, the quality of the images you use to promote the content are superb and I can’t wait to see more from you.
Thanks for the hard work putting these together, it hasn’t gone un-noticed by me and it really shows 👏👏👏

I’ve been doing photography for a year and have asked multiple instructors to clarify to rule of having your subject one third of the distance from the background. I never understood it until now when I saw your diagram!

One of my favorite videos! I actually understood everything you said about the subject! There are very very few videos out there like yours!! Great job for the beginning photographer!!

This goes way beyond the description I was taught before where wider aperture just means more light and thinner depth of field. This is one of the most interesting and useful photography videos I’ve seen, one of my favorites from your channel! Thank you Simon!

Summer of 2023 I discovered your channel and the opening song was stuck in my head as I watched your videos every night after shooting all day. It was a great summer. Cheers from San Diego

I just got a 50mm (finally, after two years) and it's a F1.8, my mind is being blown away and I'm just starting to use it.

These are some great tips. When I started my photography journey, I bought an entry-level camera and spent the majority of my money on learning so I did a diploma in photography. The great thing was my assignments made me test all these settings and I had a professional photographer as my tutor correcting me on my settings, light and photography.

This is the first aperture video that I have understood. The graphics referring to depth of field in conjunction with aperture size were particularly helpful
