It’s not just high heels. My dad would always sit with his heels up and tucked behind the leg of the chair. He sat like this for years at work, and the same thing happened to him.

I get this problem super easy. Can’t wear heals for more then 4-5 hours if i don’t want to walk on my toes for a couple days and doing excersices to make it go away

This is the same effect that most running shoes have too. They force you to have poor running form and get injured.

My cousin was an extreme toe walker, and she got so bad she had to have her legs cut open and stuff done to her calves. Be careful 🫶🏻

I personally dont wear heels but the problem is that our school REQUIRES us to wear black heels. They’re strict on the style/type too

As someone who had to have ATL surgery this is scary 😅. Your Achilles tendon and calf muscles can get to a point where only surgery will allow them to return to their normal point again. They will essentially atrophy. I was born with an Achilles tendon that was too short so I was a toe walker for about the first 10 years of my life and I have problems with my alignment because of it which cause neck, back, hip, etc, pain. My pelvis is angled incorrectly, and I have scoliosis. If you notice this happening, correct it immediately by wearing shoes without a heel unless you’d like to spend thousands on surgery and physical therapy to prevent spinal issues.

Stretch 👏 your 👏 calves 👏 if classical ballet has taught me anything, it's that you have to stretch and strengthen every direction your body can flex, bend or stretch.

I use a stretching splint for my Achilles tendon while I'm sleeping to get rid of tightness/soreness. I'm sure it'd probably help with this too.

When I was younger, I nearly always wore heels. Fine at first but skip forward a few years and I was dealing with nearly daily foot cramps. Only wearing high heels fixed the cramping. So then, I though that can't be right and pushed through wearing flats. One of the better choices I made for my life and I haven't had a foot cramp in years.

it also scrunches the achilles and if u stretch it out too quickly it can cause literal tearing

I had this exact problem when I was working as a RN. I wore Nike Shocks everyday for 12+ hours to work. I decided to start running and bought a running shoe that was not a Nike Shock. Wow I developed micro tears of my Achilles on both legs. Extremely painful and required PT to heal. Wish I had this advice.

i still remember getting into an argument about high heels with a girl in high school. she claimed that heels improved posture, plus she was a shortshamer.

This was actually really informative, I've been having massive issues with pain in my calfs, my calf muscles are always rock hard and it causes nerve and walking difficulties. I had no idea what might have caused it, but this video helped me realise that about 16 years of walking on my tip toes, due to being autistic combined with doing ballet from a very young age. I walked on my tip toes everyday during my youth and I only really shifted to walking normally about 3 years ago - is there any way to reverse any long term damage I may have done? I do daily stretches but by the evening I'm still in a large amount of pain

If only employers would stop requiring women to wear high heels in a lot of professions, especially in a corporate environment. -____-

My grandma had to wear heels all the time because of this. Even when she was in her 80’s she had to have a heel because it hurt to walk to much without them. I learned from her not to wear heels too often.
