The modern world is English culture. Trains, computers, the english language, the telephone, mass manufacturing. Its painful to admit that your country is insignificant in comparison, but it's healthy to admit it. This man's country is a child of Britain. Every English county has its own dance traditions, folk songs and folk tales. Many have fetes and festivals that go back to the oral tradition. There are also variations in speech accent, pattern and vocabulary. There are different building styles, farming patterns even dress. The list goes on. I suspect the man questioned doesn’t get out of his neighbourhood very much.
