For me, it's got to go to the Pokemon games, with the various ghosts. In a franchise that on the surface doesn't seem very dark, there's a *lot* of dead people across the generations, at least some of which are heavily implied to have been murdered.

Ah whenever I think of creepy Nintendo things I think back to Pokémon X and Y and the out-of-nowhere ghost girl that appears behind you in one of the office building, whispering ‘you are not the one’ to your character before moving out of the frame with no animations. I remember my kid self was very scared at that lol
