I followed through this tutorial often before it finally got it to work, but I do want to give a thousand thank you to Uday Sai Kumar who came to my aid when I couldn't get apache to work and guided me though hours of step by step to sort out the mess I had made following old tutorial the school had said to follow. Uday was patient, (very patient) with this newly to programming. Thank you so so much. And thank you to this tutorial, Tin your instruction were very clear to follow, I wish it had been the first tutorial I had watched, it would have saved me many hours of confusion.

My Mac doesn't have https-userdir.conf and extra directory so it remains as forbidden. How do you fix that?

If you keep getting the cannot connect error, then go into your httpd.conf file and comment the line:
LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache2/libphp5.so

Hi, I get Forbidden you don't have permission to access when I go to local host/myusername. How can I go back to make it work at least with local host. I tried deleting sites to get rid of everything but mac says the system needs it. Please Help!

I followed all the way through, I did have a few issues. The cd../ came Back-"bash: cd/: No such file or directory." The page was empty, so I manually typed what wasn't #out. And sudo nano httpd-userdir.conf I'm the user $ cd ~ next line says -bash: cd ~: command not found
I also got a AH00526: Syntax error on line 183 of
Invalid command 'Users', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration - this I solved by deleting the first adjustment user my name and adding #to the line above, once I put it back to what it was and it worked.

I keep getting this at the very last step when I try to restart apache:
$ sudo apachectl restart
AH00558: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 192.168.1.72. Set the 'ServerName' directive globally to suppress this message....

help please

Hi, I tried the procedure explained in this video many times and at the end when I try to get into my localhost/~username (localhost/~Edward in my case) I get an error from Safari saying that the connection to the server has been unexpectedly interrupted. What am I missing?
