Mubina forgetting that she's married to Garrett is me forgetting to take the chicken out of the fridge before cooking.

The “mentally able to consent” part is super important ! Most girls enter puberty at an extremely young age and not one at which they can genuinely consent to marriage. I love the ways you guys explain things that people often have wild misconceptions about!☺️🖤🖤🖤

I handled the music for a couple at my church this year. The boy was 18, the girl was 17. Mom & Dad had to sign her off, & she looks like she's 14. It was very bizarre. After their kiss, they did a very complicated handshake they designed for each other. I feel like it was a good representation of their maturity. They're good kids, i hope they last, but the part of the brain that handles the decision making isn't fully developed. That's why a lot of teens do things they regret at that age. Hope they don't regret it though. (Not Muslim, just throwing in my two cents)

In most relegions hitting puberty for girls means staring their menstrual cycle.
Girls get their first periods very early these days as early as 10 years. It's not a sign of maturity anymore....it's their body growing up. Maturity comes with age so thats why there's a required age of consent and marriage laws by your government. Please maybe follow that

You two might want to clarify what that means in modern times. I'm not going into a lengthy post about it but child marriages are not accepted and don't forget, everyone was getting married that early historically. It had nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with life expectancy, living conditions, lack of medical knowledge etc. In the places it happens now, investigate the causes before you blame one path for this. Don't forget, there are people fighting everyday to change this, including people who are of the Muslim faith. Be brave enough to do your own research before you pass judgement. There is more to this then you realize.

So technically if a female child undergoes precocious puberty at the age of 7-8 and when they ask the child if she wanted to be married to say a 50 year old dude, and she says yes, then a female child of 7 can get married. Some children develope a conscience at a young age of 6, it is proven medically. So it is okay by Islam, to make a girl as young as 7, get married?

Didn’t Muhammad marry ayisha when she was 6? And consummated at 9?

Usually, when 14-15 year olds (or older, obviously) fall in love, they start dating. It is literally the same thing, but they won't be legally married, just Islamically. Also, this obviously doesn't mean they will have kids now. Maybe after they are adults, but if both of them are matured, they can Islamically get married. Also, they can break off the marriage any time just like how you can easily break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Plus, I don't think any 10 year old should be dating or getting married to anyone who they "like" because love at such age is just not how it works and they don't have a clear understanding of love and a relationship.

According to scholars a man is ALLOWED to marry a child who still hasn’t hit puberty AND consume the marriage, of course the wonderful scholars say that it’s not recommended to consume it until the girl has reached puberty but it is just a recommendation! Our muslim kings know best 🥰👑

I don't like how alots of "Muslims" force others to do stuff, when it's not actually a part of islam, like a lots of girls are wearing hijab for a wrong reason, they are wearing them because they are scared of people, not because of Islam

What is the measurement for mental maturity?... because every kid who gets groomed will say "I'm mature for my age!"

I’m a Muslim who’s staying single! Please explain to my Mom that marriage is a waste of money and not an obligation! I don’t believe in true love because marriages are arranged with strangers. How am I supposed to fall in love with a stranger?

This will heal some ppl lack on knowledge
Even Christians had this concept of puberty.. it's not our problem that y do updates to your religion...
"Marriage was the only acceptable place for sex in the medieval period, and as a result Christians were allowed to marry from puberty onwards, generally seen at the time as age 12 for women and 14 for men. Parental consent was not required. When this law finally changed in England in the 18th century, the old rules still applied in Scotland, making towns just over the border, such as Gretna Green, a destination for English couples defying their families."

Marriage is highly encouraged. That seems like an understatement. If your Muslim and aren’t married the only other option is to be single, no in between.

I know that in Japan and other cultures things are very highly encouraged like education but they are not required. Even though those things are not required the pressure from families who have graduated generation after generation pressure the younger ones to do the same and they have a lot to live up to. It's similar in Mexican families and other families in other cultures as well. That's why there's so much suicide in Japan not because they are required to do those things but because they are pressure from their culture and from influences around them.
