It could be the CPU as well, bad contact in a memory channel, try mounting it again with even pressure

sometimes a faulty memory controller on a CPU can prevent your PC from booting up in dual channel

I recently had the exact same issue. Turns out two pins in the cpu socket were slightly bent and not making contact. After doing my best to bend them back into place, the computer booted up fine with all ram slots populated.

I love the teaching of trouble shooting and why you do it. Such a good skill to have.

Could be a bent pin issue aswell, I think the dual channel pins for the dims are in the middle of the far right side and asus boards are notorious for a crushed pin there.

nice job of troubleshooting. I had the same thing recently and swapped the faulty mb for another one, and it worked.

Literally Asus these days:

How the "unnecessary expensive brand" have fallen.

I had a similar issue with my computer. After some research, I found that 2 of my motherboard cpu pins are not like others. I fixed the pins with a needle and ensured that cpu is able to connect with the pins. After that my both of the dimm slots just worked as normal.

it isn’t a broken dimm slot always and it’s very rare for it to happen. usually memory channels have been dying on ryzen 5 3600 cpu’s or usually some cpus in general where channel a completely is useless. so it’s most likely on the cpu side so be careful

I had this same problem years ago and it cost me 300 dollars for Best Buy to not even fix it as well as break my cooler. As soon as I got home I did 5 minutes of research and fixed it

try removing CMOS battery too, that solved this for me after an upgrade

simple...dont buy ASUS and tell others to not buy from that company.

youd be surprised it could be the psu gpu cable. it happened to me. Got the ram dbug light and i tried every dimm 1 stick only nothing. i was ready to drop money on a new mobo and ram and found out it was one of the gpu cables. ended up swapping it out and it worked fine.

Even if he couldn't return it, 2 dim slots isn't terrible to use, it's just not as good.

My Asus Z690 AND Z790 both wont do XMP with far left DIMM slot... unreal. Z690 also crashes games with left dimm installed, my Z790 gives me weird issues as well. I didnt know blaming Asus was a thing now., sucks because they have the best looking motherboards and bios UI imo.

plugging in uncorrect dim-slot broke the slot obvious.

Not all motherboards want 2/4 on the ram. Incorrect CPU install can also cause that. 99% CPU install problem, 1% broken motherboard

I had this problem and I solved it by cleaning the processor socket with a brush, very gently.. it seems absurd but it worked

Same thing happen to me. Im under 18 and spent hours researching pc parts and getting them. i built the pc, got rgb, got fan spin, but no display. Then the next day i spent an upwards of tweleve hours trouble shooting, at forst i thought it was the ram as it was shoing the light for ram as red; in the end I fuigerd oit was the mother board. Returned that, got new one, but the new one was ddr5 ram, not ddr4, so then [i got new ram and finaly got my pc to work
