We get the question "how do the SSC2s compare to other options on the market" a lot. Today we answer that! In this video, we compare our SSC2 2" LED Pods to other market-leading 2" Pods! We break down each pod by intensity, beam pattern, power level, and price.

For this comparison, we've used our state-of-the-art Goniophotometer, a device that measures multiple points to calculate the intensity and map out the beam pattern of each 2" LED Pod option these brands offer! We hope the data we collected helps you choose the best pod for your vehicle!

I love your open transparency, comparing all the named brands.

the Baja Designs plug isn't a proprietary one, but a standard Delphi Weatherpack connector. I have found them to be not as good as the Deutsch ones.

It’s very refreshing to have a company compliment their competition rather than speaking ill of them.

You want the customer to be armed with the m data to make an informed decision and trust in the quality of your product, both in design and actual output.

Much respect. 👍🏼

One thing that weigh on people's choices, especially in the U.S. is where they are manufactured. And to my knowledge both Baja Design and Diode Dynamicts are madin the USA, whereas Ridgid is made in China...

As an engineer I totally get the data and statistics and measuring things in a lab setting - but at the end of the day, what works better at night mounted to the vehicle? It would've been good to have that comparison too. Great stuff though!

Comment on the Baja Desgns Pro. It gets hot and cuts power, but the pro models I believe typically are for longer range, which you don't need when you are stopped. I would assume that if there is air flow, it would not get hot and derate.

I would really like to get DD lights but having such a small selection of products is really the only thing that is holding DD back from surpassing baja and rigid. DD needs to introduce some XL pods and dual row light bars both straight and curved.

I'm sold on the dd lights for my extra reverse lights, just totally settled on the pattern I should choose. Combo is what I was leaning towards. I like the light to spread to the sides as well as a decent punch out back.

Well you just stole a BD customer. I was going to order a set for my reverse to flash people who leave their brights on behind me, but yours are wayyyy brighter.

This was tremendously helpful. Nice work guys!

I believe the Baja Designs wiring is terminated with a Weatherpack connector... At least they were when I got mine. I'd love to get a set of SSC2s but the integrated Deutsch connector is too bulky to fit in my ditch light location. The compactness of the S2 makes it my choice, even though all my other lights are DD.

Most important to me is the radiation- how are these? I have a pair of Auxbeams that wreak havoc on my vhf radios

So I really like the focus of your work, making a very defined beam of light to accomplish specific lighting tasks. Also your videos are educational to the consumer. You come across as giving an unbiased report.

My questions are these:
1) you continuously talk about baja designs pro level lights failing after being on for a few minutes and describe them as unstable and then give a candela of roughly the same for their sport and pro models. Did you experience this with every pro model light you tested? How many lights of the same "failing" model type did you test? Just one? or five lights of each type and they all exhibited the same problems?
2) you define candela on a linked video as the amount of light (lux) at a "specific point" at a specific distance. What point or field are you measuring when you are comparing your lights to baja designs? It seems on some of your photos that baja is putting out more light overall, though the center of your light pattern is brighter, albeit more focused.

I don't have a dog in the fight. I'm trying to pick the best light for me. I have your lights and bajas in my Amazon cart right now. Your numbers and descriptions favor your lights, however that seems contingent on the baja pro models, which look visibally brighter overall, though not in the very center, failing. And it seems contingent on where you are measuring the light beam throughout your testing. I appreciate your help and like the way your lights look. Your price point is better too. Keep up the good work!

Two things that are important to me are, the light color and made in USA. Baja Designs fills both those requirements at 5000K(vs. 6000K) and made in USA.

Reposting my comment about which beam pattern would work well for a atv. I want two light pods that will function as low beams.

Really like that you show your competitors with no bashing of them. Let you product speak for itself.
In your opinion, do you think the combo or flood for back up lights?

Can you do a comparison for 12" light bars in amber?
