Theres no ray traced reflections in GTA, just screen space reflections and cube maps. There are ray traced shadows but thats it

Rockstar never said that they are ray traced reflections. Only the shadows!

It's even more confusing when you realize GTA V is a PS3 game, remastered for the PS4, ported over to PS5, and Spider-Man is a PS4 game, remastered for the PS5.

There should be no reason why a PS3 game with an initial budget of a quarter of a billion dollars and which generated over 6 billion dollars in profit couldn't include raytraced reflections, when a much more graphically demanding game (also open world), was able to achieve that and much more on the same hardware and with a smaller budget, and able to accomplish all that at 4k 60fps. 😐

Congratulations, you made a whole video about something that's not even supposed to be in the game, it doesn't use RT Reflections.

Also do note the example from Battlefield V at 4:45 isn't RT either, it's Screen-Space Reflections. You can see everything that's obscured by an object isn't reflected anymore, just look under the gun or at the edges of the screen.

Even the reflections of GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition casts real life shadows of peds, vehicles, fire, etc. They are definitely not Ray Traced reflections, they're just Cube Map reflections but they are a lot better than GTA V ones. That's another thing that they're broken at some places or at certain circumstances.

basically ray tracing is created to reflect shadows on an object.. while in gta we are really lied to. and we pay, not free.

Gta v enhanced version has only RT shadows not RT Reflections. This version uses high res cube maps for better refections.

RT in GTA5 is use for Global illumination, and Lightning, not for réflection.

Why are you comparing reflections? There are not RT for reflections, only for shadows. Is it that hard to understand?

Reflections are not ray traced in GTA 5 enhanced. The RT is for shadows. They never advertised RT reflections.

Many types of RT. But some cost more. But GTA5 is a very old game ps3 and 360 and an old game engine. Im sure GTA6 will bring big improvements.

Many game Engines are still using legacy code and need massive updates, which i think is the reason nobody has seenvanything from naughty dog on PS5.

Give it time
