I had a problem with this too.
But a way I solved it if you don’t know where the button is, scroll until you see multitasking and gestures
Then when you tap it, turn it off and on
That is how I fixed it
(If it doesn’t work, sorry!)

It happened to me once and idk why the Picture in picture icon to click doesn’t appear anymore when I do it again. I’ve tried several times and it doesn’t work anymore. 😢

Ridiculous that this feature isn't in the YouTube app for Premium users. It should at least be a Problem feature.

Thanks so much, this has been driving me crazy! The iPad allows split windows but not like this.
I have been doing drawing tutorials for Procreate and have been using my phone or TV for the youtube tutorial.

So I finally got this to work, but it only works if I use the safari desktop YouTube. And I have to do it every time. It doesn’t work with the app. Am I doing something wrong?

It’s supported in iPad app natively now
