We need to build European AI capabilities. We must act now!

Prof. Dr. Holger Hoos, Alexander von Humboldt Professor in AI; EurAI Board Member; and Co-founder and Chair of the Board of CLAIRE, speaks at the European Parliament, and calls for the need to make sure that AI capabilities in public sector are on par with industry, to protect a future for Europe that is liveable, prosperous, and not dependant on the whims of governments or players elsewhere.

The “Beyond ChatGPT: How can Europe get ahead in generative AI ?” was a half-day event on May 25th at the European Parliament, in Brussels, organised by a broad consortium from science and civil society, lead by HumanE-AI-Net, support by IIRCAI under the auspices of UNESCO, CLAIRE, and other ICT-48 networks such as TAILOR, AI4Media, and VISION, and language projects like ELG and ELE, and moderated by presenter, and policy officer in the EU parliament Lenneke Hoedemaker.
