Situation Report on the crisis between Turkey and Greece, over the sovereignty on islands in the Aegean Sea. Since the 1970s, both countries have come close to armed confrontation over those contested territories which both Turkey and Greece claim as rightfully theirs according to the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne. A flashpoint could happen any moment. What makes things even more complicated is that both are NATO members.

The hardest operation in Naval exercise is the taking of a island. Any amphibious ships used to try to invade any Greek island will end up at the bottom of the Aegean. An invasion of the Greek islands would be a suicidal mission for Turkey. The Greek islands are so heavily armed that Turkey wouldn’t stand a chance and that is the only reason why Turkey wants demilitarization. So that Turkey can have an easy cakewalk like they did in Cyprus in 1974. The Treaty of Lausanne has been violated by Turkey 1000 times over in comparison to Greece. Any country has the right to defend its borders and its citizens, the Greek islands will NEVER be demilitarized. Turkey has it’s largest Naval force (120, 000 troops) facing the Greek islands. Why does Turkey have the largest amphibious installation facing the Greek islands in Izmir Turkey ??? Is Turkey planning on invading China ??? No, Turkey has it’s eyes on the Greek islands and has had its eyes on the Greek islands for hundreds of years. Turkey ain’t getting sh*t ever again. If Turkey starts a war with Greece they will lose their entire airforce and navy fleet within days…not weeks not months

Greece doesn't want to invade turkey. We just want to protect ourselves. And yes some islands have military presence but only after the Turkish threats. Also the Dodecanese islands were given to Greece because their inhabitants were Greek

I think that Turkey has no right to the islands where Greeks (Hellenes) have been living for several millennia. I am convinced, as are many of my compatriots (in Japan) that the behavior of the Turkish state is for yet once, that of the invader as always in his history, from the time when his people arrived in the Mediterranean from the steppes of eastern Asia.

The islands stay Demilitarised unless Greece feels threatened. Cyprus was demilitarised and that got invaded so Greece can say they feel threatened

3:08 Wrong.
The conflict between Greeks and Turks doesn't go back for millennia.
Our ancient rivals from the east were the Persians, present day Iranians.
Turks appeared in the region centuries later.
The whole western coast of Turkey was Greek since antiquity, hence the presence of Greek temples, theatres etc there.

The Turkish airforce is a joke compared to the greek airforce. They even go as far to say that they can waste a few aircraft to overcome the technological advantage of HAF and take down a rafale. F16V (block82 already arived too). Meteor is the main long range weapon Turkey has to overcome.

If you check the army department, Turkey has a numerical advantage but only in troop counts.

Both Turkey and Greece operate about 350 leopard 2 tanks, while all the Turkish ones are leo2a4, 170 of the greek ones are leo2a6. 120 of the greek leo2a6 were manufactured in Greece. Greece is the last manufacturer of leo2 hulls left. Turkey was going to manufacture their own mbt but made many failed attempts, now they focus on upgrading their 64 year old tanks. So if a Turkish mbt gets damaged it can be debated how fast or if it will get fixed.

On the UAV department Turkey invested far more than Greece on the larger UAVs like tb2, the effectiveness of such weapons can be debated since they are vulnerable to air defences, they can still do damage over islands. In the last few years both the greek government and smaller individual greek companies invested in the development of smaller drones like quadcopters for naval-army usage.

On the air defence department, Greece is simply far ahead of Turkey, in fact this was one of the main reason Turkey broke bonds with the US, they were not provided with the same toys. Greece operates everything from long range to medium and short range SAMs. The new FDI frigates will basically be mobile SAMP-T SAM batteries that can cover the airspace of any island in a few hours, including the whole airspace of Cyprus. Turkey doesn't operate any sophisticated weapon that is designed to deal with the latest air defences.

Greece has one of the world's strongest air forces and is one of the few countries that can raise more than 200 jets at once.
That's what happened in 2020 (F16 Vipers, Rafaels, Mirage) caring exosets and scalps are capable of severely damaging the Turkish infrastructure.

He talked about Greek Strategic bases... He analyzed also the Greek Military power.... HOWEVER he didn't talked about Turkish army and the fact that their naval bases are in a very close distance from Greek islands.... The Turkish military exercises close to our islands and also the the Turkish UAVS and Fighter jets that enters every day the Greek Air Space ! Well we have every right to militarize our islands after the Turkish invasion of 1974 in Greek Cyprus!

What people forget is that the EU also has a common defense clause, so even the non-NATO member EU states would have to go to war.

@HistoryLegends I would like to observe your serious mistake during the Leonidas cut scene. Ancient Greece never had Turkish neighbors before the Middle Ages. In the era of Leonidas, the opponent of the Greek City-States was the Persian empire, which was strictly Persian/Middle Eastern. Seljuk Turks and other Mongol-originating tribe-nations mingled with the Persian natives of the Middle East during the expansion of Islam, forming the Seljuk empire and the subsequent Ottoman Empire. There were no actual Turks in antiquity, only Mongols situated in north-eastern Asia.

Very informative and accurate video. Things u might have missed: Although the Greeks lack boots on the ground they make up for it in artillery, airforce and navy. In addition, the Greeks have a significant force stationed in Cyprus (roughly translated: The Greek Forces of Cyprus) which include boots on the ground, special forces and the newest "toys" from our defense spendings.
