Last time Greece demilitarized an island at the request of turkey was Cyprus in 1967. It removed a brigade meant to protect the island in case of a turkish invasion.
What happened? Turkey grabbed the chance and invaded the island of Cyprus occupying it ever since.
Now they ask the same for the Aegean islands after they have already positioned an army next to them which (according to their own words) boasts the strongest amphibian assault units in the area.
Make your own conclusions...

you forgot to mention Cyprus was always Greek and only had a minority of Turks before being invaded in a classic imperialist, unprovoked way 50 years ago.

There are a lot of inaccuracies in the video. First in the Aegean Greece and Turkey have 6 miles territorial waters.According to international law every country has the right to expand its territorial waters to 12 miles.Turkey threatens Greece with war if Greece do so. Turkey also claims that islands have no EEZ.

6:00 split of land? Why should Greece split up its own islands and give half to Turkey? When a scammer comes inside your house and claims that it is his, do you give him the house, or even split it up? No, you show him the contract that says it's yours, and you kick the trespasser out! Greece owns Imia and all the other islands and islets of the Aegean, according to the Lausanne and Paris treaties, and had them even before that, so, get out!

I think that you miss a few crucial points.
1. The treaty of Lausanne states clearly that all islands laid more than 3 nautical miles offshore Turkey, belong to Greece.
2. Turkey has not signed the treaty of Paris, the treaty that calls for the Dodecanese to be demilitarised. As they are not an undersignatory, they cannot have any claim according to the international law for state treaties. If you buy a room from someone under the condition to paint it black, the neighbor of that room cannot claim that the room does not belong to you because you paint it white if the one who sold it doesn't. At least not in international law.
3. The UNCLOS 2, the UN resolution for the seas, is clear that inhabited Islands have EXACTLY the same sea territorial and exclusive economic zone rights as the shore of any land state. So Turkey, legally can only claim exclusive economic zone that does not fall upon the 200 miles exclusive economic zone of any inhabited Greek island. If the distance between the 2 states is less than 400 nautical miles, meaning that there is not enough distance for both states to have a full EEZ, then the exclusive economic zone of each state is defined in the middle. So, for example, if a Greek island is 100 miles from Turkish shore, the Greek island has 50 miles eez and the Turkish shore an equal 50 miles. If it is 10 miles, Greece 5 - Turkey 5 etc. The same rule applies for territorial waters.
I hope I helped!

The Infographics Show usually makes very good videos, but this is one of the most innacurate ones you guys have done in a long time.

The Turks aren’t descendants of the Persians, they’re Turkic people, not Iranian. The Turks first entered Anatolia in the 8-900s CE, pushing out the Eastern Romans. The rivalry between the two peoples mostly begins there, although there are multiple cultural, religious, and political reasons why they hate each other.

You forgot to mention Turkey’s over repeated violations into Greek airspace, nearly colliding with Greek aircraft. Even doing a flyby near the helicopter containing the Greek PM.

I thought this was a serious channel but just only 5 min into the video and spotted several inaccuracies. But then again, this is youtube

There are NO Greek territory claims, by UNCLOS every country has the self fulfilling RIGHT to expand their sea borders up to 12km from their shores. Greece is one among the few countries on the planet that haven't done so in the Aegean sea due to pressures from NATO and EU who want to keep Turkey within the West's control.

Incredible how many things can be misreported in such a short time!

Mate, Turkey didn’t ‘just sent troops’ in Cyprus. They outright invaded Cyprus, in 1974 there was a war occurring in Cyprus.

Both countries are extremely valuable to NATO because of their strategic locations, particularly Turkey which creates a power base on the door step of the Middle East, control of Black Sea shipping, combined with their formidable military.

Greece however, has a massive shipping industry that if disrupted, would have massive economic consequences to all of Europe. Greece is also considered by many people in Europe to be the cradle of European and Western civilization, and as fully European people would have more sympathy from other Europeans.

It is also worth mentioning that Turkey is often at odds with Western values and objectives. They sympathize with Russia more than most other NATO countries, and have been difficult to deal with when it came to admitting Sweden and Finland into NATO. Their side in the Syrian conflict has been fighting against the American side which illustrates how different their objectives can be.

If push came to shove, I think most of NATO would take the Greece side, but they may just form a coalition occupy the Aegean with peace keepers in an effort to prevent both sides from fighting.
