I saw my first E-Type in person in1963. It was a Series One coupe in BRG w/ tan interior. It absolutely took my breath away! I'm 78 now and when I see one today, I have the same feeling. I still prefer the lines of the early FHC to the OTC.

I have owed my 1971 Willow Green Series II OTS for 48 years. It was found by my wife in a car trader book at the supermarket. It was on an owner to owner lot 100 miles away. I drove the car and loved it from the start. I paid the lady that owned it the $3500.00 asking price. That has sure turned out to be an unbeatable investment. Except for the usual Jaguar quirks in the wiring (I just had the whole car rewired) it has been an eye stopping, hoot of a ride since 1975.

Enough time has passed. At about age 17, I accompanied a friend to see some "gangsters" who would steal a car to order. That is how he obtained his first E type.

I had a 1965 and 1967 and a 1968 XKE roadsters. Yes, they were pretty but mechanically they were a horror. Parts were always falling off. Strange rusting problems began with only a few years on the car. I always felt the suspension was too soft and suffers from twoo much body roll. The engine were reliable and returned 15 to 16 mpg. The 1968 car actuaully had factory A/C in it which produced lots of cold air. The Conolly leather upholstery never lost its characteristic leather aroma which I really enjoyed. Oh yes, the convertibles all leaked.

I used to work at a BL dealership back in 1981 I was 16 years of age at the time and that was where I had my 1st E Type encounter. The dealership had a 1971 series 3 open in silver 4 speed manual and although I could not drive at the time I used to spend many a lunch break sitting in that car dreaming. If I remember rightly it was up for sale at £11000.00 I wonder if the car still exists and what it would be worth today .

The beautiful flowing, sensual, and organic lines of the E-Type are in stark contrast to the currently favored cluttered, angry toaster, transformer, folded origami, school of automotive design, perfectly exemplified by the C8 Corvette.

Enzo called the Jag E the most beautiful car in the world in 1961 before the 1962 Ferarri 250 GTO was released. Later on in the 60s there were a number Italian cars that in the beauty dept, gave the E Type a run for it's money or even bettered it like Bizzarrini.

Opalescent silver blue with a red interior is the most beautiful color combination on a 62-64 XKE. And yes that is what I have I know the reality:)

Wanting an E-Type and owning an E-Type are poles apart... The maintenance, thirst (8mpg from mine), driveability, etc, was enough for me to say "Enough"... it had to go...🤬 !
I found it was absorbing too much of my life to the detriment of other, more important things... like living... and family🤔

Good video overall, but two comments. "Drives good"? Watch your grammar! "Drives well"... To modify a verb you need an adverb. Adjectives are strictly for describing nouns! Also, the V-12 Series III was NOT "more powerful" Acceleration was more or less the same, but top speed was down because it is a heavier car. It also has worse aerodynamics, especially since the extra length meant displacing more air when in movement. Thank you for the video.

I learned to drive a standard in a 1967 XKE convertible. The following story should make every Jaguar fan cringe.
I had just received my drivers license a few months before. Where I took my drivers education, they didn't have a standard for anyone to learn in. I was working for an attorney in my hometown. He asked me to run some papers Downtown for him. I told him, I didn't have a car and I took the job so I could earn the money to buy one.
He said "No Problem"; I told him, I didn't know how to drive a standard. He said I'll teach you. He took me outside, and gave me a 30 second class on how to drive a standard. Here's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Reverse is to you and down. Give it alittle gas and release the peddle on the left. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO KILL MYSELF! I drove a few blocks and got on the interstate and headed Downtown. I managed to make it there and back without a scratch. The man was a friend of my fathers and he offered me a summer job and I was eager not to disappoint. As the summer progressed, I became more proficent driving the 12 cylinder monster. He was a divorced man and always had a woman, 10-15 years his junior in trail. He was a real diverse man. A pilot of various types of aircraft and a roper. He'd always go out of town on the weekends. One Friday, he tossed me the Keys and said "Go enjoy yourself"! Don't kill yourself. Oh.... by the way wash it and don't leave it on empty. I had the Jag for the weekend and many more after that
It was very much like the one in the video. Primrose Yellow with a Black interior. LOVE THAT CAR!! To this day, I'd love to have one. If I had a six car garage, It would have a stall of it's own. Maybe someday. I still have those memories until I die! One fantastic automobile!

The 62 Ferarri 250 GTO I think is even more beautiful as it was inspired by the Jag E. BTW... can you lend me the money to buy one I couldn't begin to afford one in my life unless I won a lottery.

Wow, you really are spoofing it. The series 1 & 2 cars are NOT suited to tall people as they are very difficult to get into. That’s why the 2+2 was designed. In reality it wasn’t for the extra back seats but the longer doors and higher roof for taller people to fit in.

A 1979 Aston Martin Vantage is a beast
A 1935 MB 540K is stunning.

But this E-type is not pretty. Except for the gorgeous engine of course!
