Mount was so powerful as Pike, that he literally took over season 2 of Discovery. There are so many potential adventures of the Enterprise under Pike's command, that one has to wonder what future Discovery even has. Jeffrey Hunter's departure from TOS left me wanting for more stories about the pre-Kirk Enterprise. This is something both old and new Star Trek fans can embrace.

I think Anson Mount as Capt Pike is the best Starfleet Capt ever.. Guy is awesome.. Loved when he grabbed that time crystal. I know many people rip on discovery but I had tears in my eyes when the enterprise showed up at the end of season one.. and I loved Number One and Clean Shaven Spock and some of those bridge people looked cool.. I bet this will be a awesome series..

Anson Mount did a fantastic job as Captain Pike. I wasn’t as crazy about Ethan Peck’s Spock, but most of that was the due to the lame storyline with him and Michael Burnham that felt way too contrived and shoehorned in. But yes, definitely would tune in for a show featuring this crew aboard 1701.

I think Star Trek needs to go back to single-story episodes as it has always been, Discovery and Picard have an entire season on one story. People may not want to follow a story if it is not to their liking. I think that's the problem with Discovery and Picard not doing well.

I loved pikes attitude. Trusting, confident and ready to sacrifice. I want more techy positive episodes.

Pike series should start off with them leaving Talos 4. But pike is amazing i hope the original 3 come back

There's a great deal MORE missing from STD than simply "Character Recognition". Like sticking to canon and good script writing.

I agree with you 100%. Common sense would dictate that the powers to be wouldn’t have spent the money on a massively complex new USS Enterprise bridge set without making good use out if it. This set is a substantial investment. I remember reading that the original Star Trek bridge set cost $60, 000 back in 1964. The new set would be very expensive. I’m looking forward to a new series with the Enterprise under captain pike and a number one who is a number 10.
