I learned a bit Spanish and Portuguese is written similiar but for me it sounds completely different, more like French. Italian and Spanish sound more similiar to me but maybe that's because I learned Latin.

I love how they adapted to a language they don't know
"De amarrar? No, too complicated. Yamaha" and it still is a comprehensible sentence if you know they are trying to speak portuguese!
It's a great way to learn a new language, find connections to your own or to words you know, until you're able to fully understand and remember the real word
