Belfast is home to Titanic Studios where Game of Thrones is shot, Dragonstone, The Stormlands, Pyke, The Iron Islands, Storm's End, The Stormlands, The King's Road, Winterfell, Robb Stark's Camp, Riverrun, The Haunted Forest and Beric Dondarrion's Hideout to name but a few are all locations in Northern Ireland, only part of the pilot was filmed in Scotland.

Cons: it makes you obsessed with the world of it because of how deep and fleshed out it is

I hate everyone who belittles people for not reading the books.  No one would know about Game of Thrones if it wasn't for the show.  That's because the books are a chore to read.  It isn't because they are books, it's because they aren't written well.  The only saving grace to them is the characters.  The world itself isn't anything special, and the fact it rotates throughout character point of views is one of the worst ways to write a story.  You watch, or read, pretty much just to see if your favorite characters stay alive and if your least favorite die.  I'm a half English major purely because I love reading and appreciating literature.  But I can agree that Game of Thrones is a much better show than it is a book.
