Even Roger said something like this recently. He said that the one handed backhand is more beautiful due to the free swing, but that two handed backhand has more opportunities to it.

Let's appreciate what Roger achieved even in the era of two handed backhand with one of the most beautiful one handed backhand.

I totally agree. In my opinion the one-handed backhand is the most beautiful motion in any sport. It is like watching pure sense of grace.

No matter what, I still love watching the one handed player like Sampras, Henin, Federer, Becker and many more, it's beautiful and it's not just a sport but a form of art.

It was worth to mention Guga Kuerten as one of the best one handed backhands.

Been using the one handed backhand for 40 years. Feels very natural and there are days I prefer it to my forehand. I also can cover more ground with it. Topspin or slice or drive one handed backhands feel just great to hit.

To discover the weaknesses in Federer's backhand, you'd have to put clay, a left-hander, a high, very lifted ball and the greatest clay-court player of all time in front of Federer. The one-handed backhand is still the most effective if mastered correctly. Harder to master, but more effective.

It’s the DIFFICULTY that is the appeal. I have only just figured out my one handed backhand and it’s my favourite shot to play now. I love it. There is more to life than just points. There is the art of the game.

The 1-handed backhand, which I call 'butterfly', also *feels* so damn good! I feel more power, though, when I use the 2-handed backhand. NA

Agree that being a top player with a one hand backhand is harder, but the two-handed players I see also have VERY good one hand backhands, usually slice.

Rafa said it best, with Roger I could hit high to his backhand… with Novak, there was no place to go

My son @ronakgalaiya loves the idea of doing a single handed backhand but understands the need for a double handed for juniors

Tennis is currently played with relatively on the slower surface, it provides more benefits for two handed backhand, in previous era of 90's and before when it was played on faster surfaces with the technology of racket in that era, it more advantageous for 1 handed backhand, even Sampras changed from his two backhand on his transition from junior to 1 handed backhand for attaining the efficiency of his game in S&V player ...

That’s also a reason why they don’t volley as well, you see the single in doubles a lot more

I was taught one handed as a kid and i have always used it. The follow through feels good and as stated here it looks gracious.
