Great stuff AE. I have to share yesterday's best shot. 370 yard par 4. blocked the drive into the woods on the right .. bounced off the trees back down into the fairway.. running all the way down the slope to the left hand side of the fairway, leaving 216 yards to the hole. Clear shot to the green blocked by a squeeze of trees into the fairway, ball 4 inches above my feet, hit a 30 yard draw with my 5 wood, bounced once in front of the green .. then once on the first cut .. and rolled up the green and disappeared into the cup for a "2". Golf, what a game.

I hit the like button, but would like to add that you neglected both woods (3 fairway to 6 hybrid) as well as the critical alignment. Good for what you posted, I just feel that so many second approach shots are woods, and without proper alignment everything else goes poorly that they should have been mentioned. Cheers, and keep up the good work!

That was my focus and commitment on the weekend, I was more consistent

Thank you so much. After a weekend 20 strokes over handicap I needed a good reminder

Hi Alex, I am new in watching your blogs and I am well impressed in what you are showing us! Yes CONSISTANCY is a big factor with MY game, I am now an old guy who has lost his confidence with his irons! My drives are around 250 yards or less, but my irons let me down 70% of my game, seeing you changing your grip from your driver to what you grip with your irons is an eye opener! The take away is my problem, do I take away with my left shoulder or my right, this is the grey area of my game! I have not had any tuition, but when I took the game up I was told that the left hand/arm is the lead to the swing for right handed golfers - take away with the left hard/arm and follow through with the left hand/arm, This worked for me in my younger years, but now I fear to use a wedge as I shank it 8 times out of ten! I am at the point in throwing in the towel! I don't play in competitions now as I do not want to embarrass myself and others! I used to play off 9, now 13, but I know I could do better if I had what is needed upstairs in how to create a consistent take away!
I took the game up in my late 20s, now a 71 year old! I played last night and was 3 up against my son in law after 6 holes, then my game just deserted me, ended up losing by one hole!
I gave him a fright and I would love to do the same more often! Help me Alex!

Cheers for this. I've always played all my irons from the middle of my stance. Looking forward to testing this out and seeing the difference!

Goes to the range and remembers all this "aha! now I get it!" then proceeds to the course, totally forgets everything, duffs and slices most of the shots, loses 20 something balls in the process and finishes the round with a score of 135+ something. Unbelievable. I swear that even the birds were laughing at me. Just one of those days I guess. But anyway, great video as always and really good tips! Back to the range ->

Alex, how about fairway woods? A bit stronger grip than irons? Like most amateurs, I get too steep with fairway woods. Does grip help with steep?…Oh, and good call on Fitzpatrick. That 150 yard fairway bunker shot on 18 was absolutely clutch. I’ve never seen a caddy plumb-bob from a fairway bunker.

Played yesterday. Used the 'shorter controlled grip, feet pointed outward stance (6hcp vs 18 hcp), and the aiming stick through the waste, and adjustments on foot position from Hogan... all those tips to implement was very easy. Everything clicked, and I played great. Unfortunately we coukd only get on to our budget course as it is fathers day weekend. Fairways were dead, hard, missing grass everywhere and the greens were TRASH. Litterally putting through dirt and rocks, just dead. so it was impossible to score... terrible conditions snd we all swore we are done with thst course. Off the tee was the only place you could get any consistency ... and yes I was bombing further, hardly ever missed a fairway, outdrove the card with my 3 wood a few times too. Straighter, longer, easier swings,

Thank you Slex, reslly solid tips

It doesn't seem like it on the course, but I find it interesting hat whenever I see people with something measuring their ball flight, they hit nearly all their clubs the same height. I noticed this here with both the driver and 9 iron going 118 feet up. More on point, I like the idea of setting up with the ball in the middle and adjusting to make sure ball position is correct for each club- simple and repeatable!

Alex, the only consistent thing about my game is my inconsistency...

Hi Alex, just wanted to ask does the overall swing stay the same with Driver apart from the tweaks at setup, same technique and feel? I sometimes feel like I have a more rounded swing with the driver but feel like it is slower and not as athletic.

Thanks Alex. A helpful way to know the set up for striking the ball well. A lot of videos talk about ball position but can you show us how far you should stand away from the ball with each club please 👍🏼

Hi love your videos, question I seem to have an issue with aiming? I am generally OK but every round I just end up 20 degrees off left or right. I am putting it down to like you said getting lazy etc. Is there anything you can recommend.

I'm having lessons and my coach said don't rotate the shoulder down for driver?
