I have this flash, and love it. At times it is unwieldy, but you can also fit the flash heads around obstructions, and do back-lighting.

I really like what the blue gel did for that dandelion shot

When there were no such outbreaks, I bought myself Canon MT-24EX for insane 1000$. It is about 8 years old and doing great. I had to make diffusers myself from white milk bottles and a thick layer of padding polyester. So I'm used to shooting with such a flash. I will say that it can create more artistic light. I like shooting with double flash. I also shoot with an ordinary external flash. But it can't go everywhere. The diffuser pushes branches and rests against vertical objects.

Very good & informative video. Your details on all the other "bits" to make up what we see is excellent & very helpful. Thanks.

Great images and I really like the versatility of that flash! Keep up the Macro Walks, they are enjoyable to watch and very educational!

Thank you very much Micael, the photos are impressive. I think that flash and also the Godox MF12 open the doors to images with a creative perspective, I was delighted to see the images and also the use of gels add a different vibe. I love that kind of photography.

Aliexpress shows a K808 available from various stores at ~$115 USD and K909 at ~$250 USD. Of course with any Aliexpress shopping hunt, it's difficult to find out the differences in specs between various seemingly identical items.

Very interesting flash setup! Thanks for the great review.

well now that's a handy little flash, allows you to put the heads nice and close, plus the defusing works rather well to add that little bit, most importantly is the control per head made easy and simply

I just viewed Thomas Shahan's latest video and I note his camera system was equipped with a KX-800 flash (and hand-made diffuser). He seems to be a big fan of this flash😀.

Spectacular!!!! Michael, would you be so kind to share on a video how to set up that flash? Imagine cloudy or shadow white balance? Thank you much from Uruguay.

I am always amazed how you are so regularly able to shoot subjects that are inside your huge diffusers. My subjects tend to be in more crowded places so I run into something before getting close enough to shoot 1:1 or closer. I like your video but dislike your use of weird filters. I do appreciate using two flashes having mounted two Meike mk320 (one on hotshoe and one slaved wireless attached to a solid arm on my cage). The idea I wish would catch on is the accessory mounts on the front of the lens like we saw on the TTArtisans tilt shift.

Even though 'bugs' aren't my genre, you captured some nicely exposed images with that flash system. The ability to adjust the power so quickly is a real plus. It's the perfect unit to set up a trigger trap.

I like the pictures of the insekts together with the one blue gel flash. Maybe not so optimal for a yellow flowers as blue and yellow become green, but for a white one maybe? :)

I have this flash I purchased in 2019 from B&H at $169. Now I see it's $249. I agree it is unwieldy but works well and it's simple to use.

Hello Micael. Have you tried using a flash hotshoe/coldshoe tilting bracket to place regular flash closer to the lens?

Another awesome vid Micael. The light off of this is pretty nice, even if for me personally i think it would add too much "stuff hanging around" with those huge arms and the focus light😂

Off-subject question: I'm having a hard time deciding on a flash for the OM1 for macro. Do you think the Godox V860 is too big on that one for macro? I really love that flash from my Sony. Which one would you chose over it? Also, i know you said you don't like it but i sure wish you reviewed the MF-12

Certainly interesting and some nice results. Looks a little cumbersome for using in the woods.

Michael, have you looked into a system called Adaptalux for interesting macro lighting systems? If you enjoy these ones, you might consider Adaptalux a step up! I have wanted one for quite some time haha!
