The weird matches like that one with DIY vs Channing and LA Knight usually start because of a rival action.
Matches can get rivalry actions even without automatic rivalries, and they are pretty fun in 1v1 matches.

For example in a Tag Team 1 vs Tag Team 2 match, a rivalry action may be something like post match callout.
This will turn the match into Tag Team 1 vs random made up team from your roster, so that Tag Team 2 will enter the ring after the match and do a post match callout.
I usually fix these ones by editing the match and just deleting the rival action taking place.

The way I set up universe mode usually works really well.

I change Raw to WCW nitro.
I change NXT to ECW, and I change smackdown to a generic WWE show.
I get rid of all the NXT pay per views and some of the WWE ones, then I swap them for ECW and WCW pay per views using downloaded shows.
Then on Thursdays I have the WCW Japan supershow and on Saturday I have the Saturday night main event show.
For these I allow WCW, WWE, and ECW to all host so I can have crazy matches between the different companies.

Turn off the automatic rivalries and as long you have the people you want in each division, the rivalries you want will still happen.
You also need to make sure you go into the universe settings, go to superstars and manually go through each wrestler’s options and set “appear on minor shows” to on.
Otherwise your biggest names and a bunch of other wrestlers will only appear on PPVs.

Once you’ve set it all up you should simulate the first year of shows just to get things up and running.

I set up my universe with a 2006 feel. I use the ruthless aggression raw and smackdown arenas, and turned nxt into ecw. Didn't bother to switch up the rosters, they're fine how they are. Its weird that the creed brothers, r-truth, and robert roode are assigned to smackdown but whatever.

They need to update the MYGM because its hard to keep track of peoples reigns and who was champion previously. I'm on season 4 going into season 5 and its hard sometimes because I wanna know wrestlers previous history so I don't keep coming up with the same PPV's and match ups. I think they should have a mode where we can merge all the mechanics that universe has and just bring them over to MYGM for example : Wrestlers Journal or Wrestlers History which shows how many times they were champion and etc etc. For me I have had LA Knight as champion for like two seasons and sometimes I wanna know how long he was reigning for so I can plan on a day to drop the belt. It would also help so I can plan on new champions to reign even longer. Another thing they need to incorporate is age and retirement in the game because WWE, they could easily set it up kinda like in NBA2k where they have all the stats including age and that way it makes it more strategic cause you wanna use the wresters at their peak age and maybe as they age their overalls go down or whatever happens in their season that helps them.

“Using custom superstars or arenas will cause crashes.”The whole point is to be able to do what you want. Why haven’t they improved on this aspect in 8 games?!

Your Universe Mode is like 99% the same as mine! I like to keep it as realistic as possible 👌🏼

But damn we need Jade Cargill, Nia Jax, Carlito, Kairi Sane, Lyra Valkyria & Dragon Lee in the game like NOW!! Not to mention Naomi & Andrade too 😭

I hate how you can't edit brand rosters outside of Universe mode anymore, means you have to go through this whole process every time you start a new Universe

I actually started doing this after the draft. I think I'm just waiting on the DLC to drop so that I can have Kairi, Punk, Jade, etc so I can get them in place.

i dont do NXT i only do raw and smackdown. i got raw and smackdown there own PPV for rating wars and the only time they will have the same ppv is the big events ppvs

I hate the I can’t put Rey as a manager for the LWO in universe mode, I hate the fact when I change the teams to make it more current like on TV they switched the teams so like I have Xavier and Kofi vs creeds one person switch to the other team automatically, I hate that is still say champion on all of the match cards and ain’t no title being defended, I also hate sometimes when I sign a superstar a manager, they don’t be there on the card or come out with them to the ring . There is probably more but that’s just a little bit.

Every week on both of my shows there's a title defense, despite me having zero settings active to allow it. I can't simulate from ppv to ppv anymore because my champions would constantly change. Tired of all these bugs.

This is random but in my opinion it would better if they do the submission system like how they have the current ladder match system, just show 2 of those on the screen one for each player and make it actually hard to get the ball between the gap, that way you would have more time to even crawl to the ropes as well, also idk if you guys noticed but I think this started in 2k22 or 23 where pulling down the title or briefcase in a ladder match is actually easier and quicker now, there used to be way more bars for the circle to fill now it’s only like 5

I am coming upon the survivor series in my universe mode, and my plan is to have punk make his return either at that event or the raw after either way he is going to go right after Drew and the world title on raw and then I plan to actually set up my universe close to how it is on TV atleast having the correct people on each show between raw and smackdown and maybe nxt.

I've recently just gotten back into wrestling, and I bought WWE 2K24 on a whim. I love the universe sandbox aspect of games, and I particularly loved EWR (if you know, you know) back in the day. I'm enjoying Universe mode to a point, but I'm struggling to find what other players find enjoyment in regarding metrics? How do you know if a feud is going well? How do you know if a superstar is getting more over? Or is this stuff related to GM Mode, which is way too random and has a very immature feel to it. I'm probably hoping for a game that doesn't exist. I would love a true WWE version of Football Manager, where you created genuine storylines, rivalries and build top stars.
