Wrong you bring your fork to your mouth not your mouth to the fork
Never bend down always sit upright

Had the students not ought to be told that hunching over the plate is improper?

This is the most awkward thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

There are videos to learn other cultures style of eating and etiquette, if someone is here they are looking to learn European continental style. Save your sarcasm and move along to the one you prefer or wish to learn. Yes, obviously these are students learning and yes, they have a ways to go still.

This is actually helpful seeing it done. I've always wondered do I use my knife to scoop the food onto the back of the fork or?

I think whatever works without troubling others or being messy should be fine.

I feel like Americans who think that this style of eating is incorrect are ethnocentric. Just because people do one thing differently in another country doesn't mean it's wrong.

This is NOT how Europeans eat! Only the Brits and French eat this way. I've lived in Germany and Eastern Europe and no one does this. People use the rounded bit to scoop the food, for example mash. They don't put the mash on the other side of the fork, as it naturally falls off due to the curve. If you're eating a steak with mash you cut the steak (as the people in the video) and then you turn around the fork to scoop the mash (unlike the people in the video).

That much food on a single plate wouldn’t happen in the European continent.

I attended a wedding and was eating Continental style at a round table. Everyone else was eating American style, and the fork in my left hand almost clashed with the fork in my girlfriend's right hand. So I immediately switched the fork to my right hand. It felt like everyone was looking at me as if I was wrong. We broke up less than a month later.

In what universe should a tool be used upside down? The spoon???

My father would be annoyed to see them benching their head to the plate. Keep sitting straight all the time and bring your fork to your mouth.

80% comments here criticising these students. Shame on you.
They are learning, ofc they will make mistakes. You call yourself refined? Then don't act like that, a refined person will be more understanding on what's going on in there and make more constructive comments
