Rhaegar Targaryen has kidnapped Lyanna Stark, a move that would shatter House Targaryen and Westeros forever. When news reached the hot headed heir to Winterfell, Brandon Stark, he marched to king's landing demanding justice from King Aerys ii. But the mad king saw this as an act of treason and would arrest Brandon and summon his father Lord Rickard to court. What would follow was the bloody and horrific murder of RIckard and Brandon Stark, and with that Robert's Rebellion had begun.

Brandon “The Hothead Fool” Stark, he’s the reason why his father died and he died because of his own actions. But King Aerys was the biggest mad Targaryen fool ever in Westeros. He’s completely lost his mind and caused the war.

This execution was just idiotic and fueled entirely by Aerys’s lust for burnings. He had some of the greatest Kingsguard in history at his disposal, he could easily have resolved the trial by combat and the discontent would’ve been much more subdued. This way he enraged every decent nobleman and devout follower of the Faith with this mockery. It may have even contributed to the very minor enthusiasm for the loyalists in the Reach.

Had Aerys been a bit smarter. He might have instead listened to what Brandon Stark was declaring. Aerys was paranoid that Rhaegar was trying to usurp him. And in comes someone claiming that Rhaegar kidnapped their sister. Aerys could have used that as justification to have Rhaegar arrested and stripped of his inheritance.

I find it funny that Tyrion questions if the realm has ever been cursed with a "vicious idiot" for a king, referring to Joffrey. But Aerys earned that title easily. The man managed to destroy his houses rule in 1 tyrannical action.

When Robert comes to Kings Landing. The wildfire plot was damaged and Aerys was still alive then he would have the same fate of Rickard Stark .He will be burned alive. karma was reversed 17 years later his son was dead the same way as the Starks. Thanks to Khal Drogo.

Here's the question that needs answering. Why did Brandon come to believe Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna? Where did he get this information? Did people witness the abduction? Did Rhaegar and Lyanna stage one or was it real? If there wasn't one, why did Brandon think there was one. Someone must have at least seen Lyanna in the company of Rhaegar and his posse. Did someone jump to a conclusion and tell that to Brandon? Did that someone simply lie?
