In Microsoft Word, you can work on full screen without breaking any capabilities of Microsoft Word. You can navigate, wright, edit and format the document!
When you work on full screen, the ribbon will is hidden, and only the pages are seen, if you click your mouse anywhere on the top of the screen the ribbon will pop up again. Click any command you want, and apply it, then click anywhere in the document, and the ribbon will disappear again.
To exit full screen mode press the same shortcut.

Firstly, the shortcut is ctrl F1. Secondly, all this does is hide the ribbon. Full screen is when you don't see any menus and the Windows taskbar is hidden. YouTube itself is a good example of how full screen's supposed to look.
