This is the second Dobermann I’m having, first a male, now a female and they’re the best dogs I’ve ever had! The male was só sweet and relaxed but still protective! The female is very smart and even more protective…these dogs are not for starters; you have to be very consequent and know what you’re doing. Also they need a lot of activity and have a hard time being home alone…they wanna be with you! If I go somewhere my Dobermann goes with me; between two long walks they can stay in the car for quite a long time (windows open of course) if you teach them from day 1.
I’ve been bitten by a German Sheppard 3 times in my life, they act on own initiative while a Dobermann waits on your command (when together). A Dobermann is the sweetest dog while protecting you with his life❣️

I will take a true eastern Eoropean Doberman anyday over a Rottie but love them both.Dobermans are smarter, more athletic and being bred for personal protection are the most loyal but loving to their people.I have had five Dobermans and they are always going to be my favorite breed.

The doberman is a one man one woman dog and you better be a leader your doberman will fight hell for him or her a loners dog a-1 Perfecto. The rot is a better all around family dog and you don't have to worry about them as much as thier big brother doberman both are tougher than nails the rot is easier to train, not as smart the doberman is to smart thats why its better off being a one man woman dog. Sorry if you don't like it, but I know. It's just how it is.

Before you buy a "guard dog" breed as a pet, know what you're getting into. They are great creatures, but a guard dog is a guard dog, and that's something past just being a good guardian/watchdog - and you may or may not want to have an actual guard dog in your home. Many many people are very afraid of Dobermans, for good reason. So a lot of people will not want to go to your house. They're probably the premier guard dog breed. They are in general more predictable than Rottweilers, but with a little streak of being high-strung, some of them. They are a lot faster than Rottweilers, somewhat less adept at confronting other dogs. The Doberman was bred for one thing - to confront humans, with up to lethal force. When attacking, they often tend to go for your neck or your groin. If you are a garden-variety family, you might be better off with a general-purpose dog like a Labrador or and Airedale, rather than a Doberman or a Rottweiler. But on the other hand, you many want or need a real guard dog. But don't make any mistake about it - they are on this earth to be guard dogs, and you need to learn what that means (trainable for K-9 attack training), they are guard dogs first, pets second - no matter what you think or want. You may need that, you may not. You may want that, you may not. Some Rottweilers can be a little unstable, and suddenly get angry for no apparent reason, which can be very dangerous. They're better in cold weather than Dobermans. If you really want a guard dog, and you are a typical family - get a high-quality German Shepherd from a pet-type breeder, not from a guard dog kennel. They are more stable than either the Doberman or the Rottweiler.
