Jamaican Teachers Resign in Record Numbers 400 in 11 Days

400 Jamaican teachers have resigned in 11 days just as the new school year will begin September 4th, 2023. Many Jamaican teachers are fleeing to greener pastures and taking up offers in places like the USA, UK and Canada to name a few as these nations continue to recruit heavily from the Caribbean Island and as Jamaica continues to underserve its teachers forcing them to seek better opportunities elsewhere. 400 TEACHERS RESIGN IN 11 DAYS is very telling of what is to come but how can Jamaica fix this issue which seems to be an emergency need to worry?

Met this teacher working as an assistant chef/dishwasher at a restaurant in North Carolina. She said she had no plans on returning to that field. She said what she saved in one year she was not able to save it from teaching for 15yrs at a prominent high school in Kingston.
Plus she started building a 4 bedroom house. LET THAT SINK!

GM SOUFLO, that's what I always say the same thing. teaches are with our children for a greater part of the day. They want to give themselves raise. But not the people who are responsible for teaching our children. We have dealt with our own children. And we know that they're not easy at times to deal with. Sometimes I feel sorry for the teachers dealing with all those craziness. If you're not being treated good in your home country, then that's why people seek a better living elsewhere. Makes sense to me that the Jamaican politicians should has use the same concept they used to justify their recent pay hike, which was according to Bro God, “increasing their pay significantly would result in harder working polity and attract more younger people to the politics arena.” Why doesn’t that same logic apply to teacher in Jamaica Bro God? Hi Soulflotv, in relation to the excerpt you read anyone moving to a new country is certainly going to have challenges( especial in the first year)assimilating into their new environment as for the teachers their new curriculum, I haven't read it in totality but it does portray a very negative tone, I am absolutely sure if a teacher from America goes to Jamaica they would face the same challenges, lot's of teachers migrated to the USA and are doing absolutely well, we are a very resilient people and generally always does well wherever we go. I hope they conduct this same research 2 to 3 years after they arrive and post the findings.
