The Man in the High Castle is an American dystopian alternate history television series created for streaming service Amazon Prime Video, depicting a parallel universe where the Axis powers of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan rule the world after their victory in World War II. It was created by Frank Spotnitz and produced by Amazon Studios, Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions (with Scott serving as executive producer), Headline Pictures, Electric Shepherd Productions, and Big Light Productions. The series is based on Philip K. Dick's 1962 novel of the same name.

Himmler faces a large group of children to give his speech: “Today is for you, the generation born since the end of the war. A pure generation, free from the decrepit ideologies of the past. Smith gives the order to bomb the statue. She’s surrounded by fireworks as fighter jets fly over her, targeting the base of the statue. Liberty topples into the water, breaking apart on impact. Smith looks a little sickened at what he’s done. (Metawitches)

FYI: Jahr Null (Initiative), or Year Zero, was a Nazification social-engineering initiative and a cultural genocide, carried out by the Greater Nazi Reich in Nazi America beginning in Summer of 1963. The goal of Jahr Null was to erase all traces of American history and national identity and encourage new and future generations to identify as contributing citizens of the Reich. Nicole Dörmer oversaw the planning for much of the initiative alongside collaborator Billy Turner.

The fact that Smith knows and still feels the tragedy gave me hope for future seasons. The hope was misplaced.

my only problem with this sequence is the Nazis would have preserved this monument. They would have changed a lot about it, definitely the inscriptions about huddled masses. But overall, they would have loved this statue. How do we know? Theres a smaller one in paris and the germans loved it

Statue of Liberty was built by Eiffel & there is an exact (yet smaller) version of it in France...

That was in France during the whole Nazi occupation...

& The Nazis never did any harm to either it or the Eiffel Tower so I don't suppose they would do this to the Statue of Liberty...but...if they did...

I don't see why they woukd wait a whole "generation" to do it as opposed to just destroying it immediately if they had an issue with it.

I wish they had given John Smith some kind of redemption arc. He did horrible things but he did them all to keep his family safe. I wanted to see all those things come back and have him help the resistance free the US from the nazis.

I knew PKD. I've never been able to figure out why he wrote this book. He knew the Germans were doomed from September 1, 1939 and the Confederation between the Germans and the Japanese was unsustainable. It was a contrived scenario that didn't work. His other works were brilliant. He had the ability to explain the unexplainable, like A Scanner Darkly. PKD is a top 10 American writer. Rest in Peace.
