I'm not sure, but i have a guess (if you might say) why Buffet won't invest at Elon (for now) As some of the people who commented before positives true Elon is a visionary, a scientific genius. But the negatives are he doesn't know when to be quiet or when to talk. He talks what he thinks at the moment with out thinking of the consequences, which is might irked with the likes of Gates, Cook, Buffet. Remember when Musk had a encounter with the SEC because of his Tesla declaration. That doesn't sit well with them and even I agree, sure trash talking might motivate you, but it has its limits and limitations ( remember the submarine and diver issue and the kids). While I agree with most that Musk is a genius visionary, but he is a bad businessman who might squeel a company secret accidentally.

Bill Gates is shorting tesla and Buffet obviously doesnt like Tesla stock but Elon just keeps plugging along making his dreams a reality and inspiring a whole generation of people which is always good business..

A person who invest in a coal and oil, who is against solar on your own roof, who promotes sweeten drinks to public, does not have anything to do with human ethics. Buffet is not assessing how much an industry he is investing can negatively affect society. Instead his is only after returns no matter the cost.
