@gregdouette thank you so much for the reply! My goal is to get back to where I was a decade ago, 198 @ 10%. So I'm needing to cut 20lbs of fat lol, and I agree, 15lbs of muscle is probably unrealistic for a year. I appreciate the pointers on goal setting and I have your cookbook to help! Thanks again!!!

8:25 this is why I like the internet. John may be gone now but through just little clips like these he will live on and he will be remembered!

Losing 10 pounds of fat is incredibly easy. It's that 15 pounds of muscle that's incredibly unrealistic. It would be easier to lose 100 pounds of fat in one year (if you have 100 to lose) than to put on 15 pounds of muscle.

A youtuber with over 1 million subs responding to a fans video?!?
Much much respect for that.
I would love to see more of these fan question responses

You left some whey protein and pre workout out on your table facing the camera perfectly just thought you should know.

15lbs of muscle in a year? I am almost 40 yo and just started taking my training seriously and only gained maybe 3 lbs muscle this year. Don't worry about the numbers just train to be the best you, you can be.

This is why I ❤️ Coach Greg! He tells us what we need to hear not what we want to hear.

I'm on the same journey man, I'm 37, 6"3 inches tall and was up to 240lbs and poor cardiovascular system as I cared little about what I ate, allowed depression to control me and was unwilling to learn new things, essentially giving up.

Finally realizing I didn't want to die sooner then I had to and that I had a daughter that needed me who has been kept from me for nearly two years gave me the strength to begin the dad bod to fit journey.

Six months later, I'm down thirty lbs and my blood pressure is down to perfect from what was a dangerous place. Resting heart rate now often between 53-58bpm according to whoop, it was as high as 90-100bpm AT REST last year.

I've never had the best genetics muscle profile wise, but I learned how much that had to do with how I treated myself, ate and exercised as within the last six months I now actually have biceps, can see my abs some days and if I can lose another 10-15 lbs and stay on this path I'll have the best shape I've ever had in my life. I like how I look now at 6"3 210 lbs, but would prefer dropping another 10-15 lbs of bad weight, add a little good weight and stay around a lean 195/200lbs I'll be very happy.

Learning how to listen to your body and how certain foods affect you and make you feel is huge. With me carbs I learned kept me bloated and low energy, so saving them for night meals after hard workouts and doing low carbs the rest of the time has been a life changer.

Learning how to keep yourself hydrated and replace the potassium/sodium/magnesium lost when you sweat heavily has changed things so much for me as just drinking water was making me pee all the time and not hydrating me.

When I added in electrolytes and ensured I took in the proper potassium etc daily, I stopped peeing all the water back out that I drank and would come out when I sweat instead/filled my muscles and helped feed my muscle building/fat loss.

Going from looking like a bag of milk, depressed, lonely and in a new city, unable to see the child I raised...now all because I found hope and most importantly discipline to slowly change things and not expect it overnight..I feel so much better about myself and feel like not only will I get my daughter back but will meet a great girl and have a nice family..

Your advice has been a big part of that as especially this past year of lockdowns and lonliness for even those with family and friends, people have still needed a place for positivity and food advice.

Between you, mpmd, Andrew Huberman and my nerdy anime zhoniin stuff it's been the difference between giving up due to depression and lonliness or having a voice to listen to and look forward to everyday. Once again, thank you all.

Love Greg And MPMD both learn so much from the 2 of them, I can rewatch older vlogs to keep learning from these guys, greatest teachers on YouTube imo..

Exactly. First thing on intake of clients I do my best to have them understand realistic goals. It will set them up for failure and most probably they would give up if they have unrealistic expectations.

I’m at one year of progress since watching coach Greg and Derick. Height 5”10. Start weight 220lbs @ 30-35% bodyfat give or take. Currently 195lbs 12-13% bodyfat. With the help of 150-200mg of test cyp. Hard training. Easy coach Greg diet. High protein low calories.

Losing 15 pounds in a year is really easy.
Putting 15 pounds of muscle natural is the hard part.
But after cutting 15 pounds you will realize you don't need that much muscle to look great.
