I always really appreciate when booktubers do their worst books of the year video too as long as it includes reasons why, for the same reasons you mentioned. It helps me learn how much my tastes align with everyone and also I often pick up others least faves because I like whatever it was they didn’t like. Or not pick up a book if I know I don’t like an aspect, and then that book gets one less bad review—so helpful either way. Thank you for always being honest and continuing to try to help any and all books find their audience 😊

When the Moon Hatched is everywhere and I have never actually seen anyone say they liked it.
I also agree that it seems weird for a love interest to call the main character ugly in a fantasy romance.

Please don't come for me, but my absolute worst read for 2024 was Quicksilver 🙈. It did nothing for me except annoy me and honestly I should have DNF'D (considered it at least 4 times, but read it for a book club).

I agree on Divine Rivals. About halfway through the audiobook returned itself to the library and i just didn't care.

Black Sheep was my first Rachel Harrison book and I loved it!! 5 stars. Unfortunately the next two I picked up were so disappointing and felt like they were written by a completely different person. I’m going to give her one more chance with Such Sharp Teeth, but I’m afraid her writing just isn’t for me 🥲

I'm with you on the Hunted Heir. I enjoyed The Veiled Kingdom but just couldn't get into the second book. i felt like nothing really happened. and i think the third book is going to be even shorter than the second. Kinda feels like this should have just been a duology.

With you on Divine Rivals, Nectar of the Wicked, When the Moon Hatched and To Bleed a Crystal Bloom! Also didn’t like Fear the Flames, Lightlark, A Touch of Gold and Madness or Never Keep. So basically, a lot of the hyped up ones weren’t for me 🙃 Some of them were though! Quicksilver was definitely worth the hype (fav book of the year) and I also really enjoyed the Ever King duology, the Shepherd King duology, the Crowns of Nyaxia duology and the These Twisted Bonds duology (which is super under hyped in my opinion). Currently reading Rise of the Cinder Fae and Rain of Shadows and Endings and really liking both, and I also have several of the Eva Chase books you’ve mentioned that I’m looking forward to reading. And with that I’ll conclude my far too verbose comment 🙈

I'm tempted to say The Neverending Story, since the back half was so bad, but the first half is everything good about the first movie. So, I would say Truthwitch. The Enemies to Lovers trope was super forced and I never felt any chemistry. The Bloodwitch was interesting, but not enough to save it. The lead was obnoxious.
