Before I watched this video, I couldn't even consider talking to my crush. I now understand that I've been seeing my crush as a perfect being causing me to be too scared to even approach him. Marie, you are SO good at what you do. And you are brief and to the point. You really demystify all this crush and love stuff and make it human. You deflate the situation and make us see it as something that we need to keep manageable. And we do find out quickly how very imperfect our crushes are. Often it only takes our crush being a jerk with out tender feelings. We thought they were sweet and kind and then they disrespect our feelings and treat us badly. A perfect person would not treat us really poorly. And that perfect person would not lead us on.

I think honestly it’s just the assumption that whatever you say may either come out as illegitimate or not taken the right way pertaining to them. Plus with awkwardness it may make it worst. I like this guy - he's my percussion instructor. I'm so nervous. I could talk to celebrities casually - I wouldn't care.... Yet, there he is.
