Apple Mac Startup and Death Chimes

From 1984, all the Macs that Apple released had various startup chimes depending on the Mac model and year it was released. As of today, the startup chime still exists in the newest Apple Macs such as the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), and it has been muted by default since 2019.

I got a scary memory from when I was 8, we got our first Mac and I named it Lucy.

One night I woke up to use the bathroom, which was past the office room, and Lucy turned on by herself. I wanted to play but was scared I'd get in trouble so I scolded her " Lucy go to sleep right now" the death chime and frown played and she turned off.

For years I forgot about this until I heard the death chime on a nostalgia compilation and that creepy memory came back. I like to think I was just dreaming, the idea that Lucy was sentient and has been sitting in my garage for decades freaks me out.

The last 3 death chimes are hilarious!!!! Imagine buying a mac and when it started up it crashed and made one of those fail sound like noises! And also the last 3 startup chimes were almost the same as the final one that sounded like our currents macs

I've fiddeled with almost all of these systems since I was a kid.... I've always found the death chimes hysterical... especially the Nubus.
