As a French speaker I was so surprised when you said English isn't your first language!! I could barely tell that you weren't a native speaker. And for a French native speaker, mastering the English accent like that is even more impressive.

In deep level of mental processing part, avoiding recognition itself, and instead, checking the definition/translation of the word in a preffered language and then trying to recall the exact word in a target language make a lot of sense.Because when you are writing or speaking(most difficult parts) the words are not actually gonna pop into your head out of nowhere. You will recall them first by its purpose and function in a sentence, then its definition and then the desired word.

Native English speaker here, interested in learning Japanese. Very helpful information -- thank you. Your English has enough accent to identify it is not your first language but still excellent. Not the least difficulty understanding as you relay complex ideas.

I used to create my own flashcards in BrainScape but it definitely consumed a lot of time - not 15 minutes a day. And this is not time learning but just labouring creating flashcards. Pretty soon one learns them and has to create another deck. Premade packs never worked as well, however - they often lacked good descriptions or other components that would help me and make any card unique.

Can you please add some references and sources which support these language learning strategies?

Unfortunately, academic institutions in most countries don't apply any science-based language learning methods.
Like, I know many people who learned a language for years at school/college/university, but after finishing there, they didn't have any ability to use this language practically.

I am sick of youtubers who suggests lots of methods without not supporting them with valid researches. Why would i use someone's not scientificially proven personal method while i could use proven ones

I have a question. I know you said that it is best to study the vocabulary every day. What about spacing repetition? Should I still do spacing repetition of I'm looking at the vocabulary every day. It's not vocabulary for a new language. I just want to build up my English vocabulary for writing. I was also going to try keyword method too. It's a method where you link the vocabulary word to a image.
