Andrew is in Senegal, guided by local chef Mame Hughes through the streets of Dakar to sisters Nafy Diémé and Ndéye Fatou Faye at Chez Amy. They snack on fataya, a Lebanese empanada-like snack filled with meat and vegetables; nem, crispy, fried spring rolls from Vietnam; and nem-filled fataya! Continuing their food crawl, Andrew and Mame visit Castor Market, a one-stop-shop boasting blocks of vendors selling all kinds of regional specialties. They taste Baobab fruit from one of the oldest tree species on earth, and yeet, a large, brain-like sea snail with a plastic texture. Later, Andrew is invited to Mame's mother's home for a traditional lunch prepared by Mame's daughter. Mafe stew, thieboudieune, and mbakhalou saloum make for a delicious meal.

I learned from this video that Senegalese cuisine and Senegalese people are both beautiful.❤

Had a chance to visit Senegal about 15 yrs ago but it fell thru: a Parisian professor I worked with said we could have stayed at the house where her daughter was living, doing int’l relations work and her housemates were all going to be on vacation for about a week. Her daughter would’ve been an interpreter if we’d needed one. Wish I’d gotten to go, Senegal’s always looked like a fun place to visit.

The fact that that statue is just there and is part of the view is awesome.

Oh Andrew, I think you forgot that the British left your people a homeland.
